I was wondering who is planning to do some XTERRA events this year?  I did my first last year and I am probably more excited about this year's event than any other race in 2010, even my IM - only because the XTERRA is a blast!  (The IM, not so much)

Hoping to do one here mid-August. It is only two weeks after my A race HIM so it will all depend how weel recovered I am.

I'll do at least one...Although I don't know what you mean by "blast"....The one I did last year was just slightly less painful than the IM!

Newbie here, but planning on doing XTERRA Uwharrie in NC at the beginning of May.  It will be my first tri and I'm hoping I'm not in over my head.  I really don't like riding or running on the road, hence the reason I no longer own a road bike, so Xterra seemed like the most logically choice!

It was the second most uncomfortable race I have ever done.  But I just love getting out on the dirt and MTN biking.  The fun takes some of the pain away...

I'm doing an Xterra sprint triathlon on March 28th.  1/2 mile, 16mile, 4mile.  http://www.tbfracing.com/events/realmtbtri.html  In contrast to what I've read about most Xterra races, this one says the bike is not technically difficult.  It will be my first Xterra event, and second ever triathlon.  I've never raced mountain bikes, but I've been riding them off and on since the mid 80's.  If anything, it's the 50 degree lake that worries me a bit...

Love to see more BTers doing XTERRAs!

I've got a pretty good season planned this year:
3/13/10 - XTERRA Saipan
5/16/10 - XTERRA King of the Hill, NJ
6/6/10 - XTERRA Deuces Wild, AZ
6/26/10 - XTERRA Tahoe City, CA
10/24/10 - XTERRA World Championships, Maui, HI (Only if I qualify in Saipan )

I've been training hard these past couple of months for Saipan, which is a month away. I can't wait! Fingers crossed I can beat out a couple others in my AG for a Maui qualifying slot. If not, no big deal as it's a race in a beautiful area.

6/6/10 - Xterra Tsali (Bryson, NC)

7/25/10 - Xterra First Coast (Jacksonville, FL)

I did one last year. Hardest thing I've ever done in my life, but also the most fun I've ever had at a race.

My first triathlon was an Xterra....Xterra Camp Eagle, to be exact!  It was hard as hell and I loved every minute.  I missed out on a lot of mtb'ing last year but I'm planning to do the Xterra Austin this year hopefully.

8/22/10 XTERRA Austin

This will be my 4th year doing XTERRAs.  Love them.  I'm planning on doing a couple of offroad duathlons early in the season.

My tentative schedule for XTERRAs and off road du's:

4/17 FORD #1 Fredericksburg Off Road Duathlon
4/24 Off Road Du National Championship
5/2 Uwharrie
5/23 Big Canyon
6/6 Tsali
6/20 Atlantic Cup (maybe)
8/1 Appalachia
8/22 Charlottesville (maybe)

Add in a bunch of mountain bike races and it's a full season.  Can't wait to start, can't wait for the snow to melt...

I'm jealous you guys have so many to choose from.  I have the ONE local race, and would have to travel for anything else (most likely CA)

I so want to try Xterra race but need to get a new bike. I love cyclocross and talking with my bike race team mates about what I like about cross they all say I'd love MTBing.

We have an interesting race here that is a different take on Tri.  It's not Xterra, thought, but it's called Logs, Rocks & Steel.  You canoe, MTB and run.  Sounds like a lotta fun.

Exclusively race off road myself.. I don't own a road bike and until I actually own a house, my fiancee/wife will kill me if I get another one since there's nowhere to put it.

I'll be doing off-road Du Nats in Richmond 4/24
Atlantic/Eastern Cup 6/20
EX2/XTERRA 7/12
Appalachia 8/1

One of these years I won't be on vacation during Charlottesville, but then again I want to do Austin, which is almost always the same weekend (I've got familiy in Austin)

If we weren't getting a totally crazy winter I'd be doing some rides with Mark.. About to get another foot of snow!

Check out the courses for the Xterra's in your area. They usually aren't terribly technical and would be doable on a cross bike. Just would have to check with the RD if they are allowed though.

Of course, another bike is always fun too.

Me too! I'm in Southern Califonia... we only get the Trail Race Series here (which are great events)... but I would love to do a true Xterra Tri.

I guess I could always travel a little...

Still waiting for the 2010 XTERRA rulebook, but in the past cross bikes have not been allowed.

Find one worth road-tripping.  I'll be doing an overnighter.. probably two of them.

Do the Lake Tahoe course.. although that does look like quite a schlep from your part of the state.

I'm focusing on Xterra's this year, especially since NC has more of them this year and they fit in nicely with my MTB race schedule.

Ft. Yargo -- 4/24
Uhawarrie -- 5/2
Smith Lake -- 5/30
South East Cup -- 6/13
Atlantic Cup -- 6/20
Whitewater -- 7/11
Charlottesville -- 8/25
Hopefully, one more
