There was a recent thread about listening to music while training and  a debate sprung up. Mainly it was in regard to cycling with or without earphones.  Here is a small bit of actual data from the UK. I thought it was kinda interesting.
Thoughts.

"With that in mind we are greatly concerned that the government still seems fascinated with analysing and promoting cycle helmets, the value of which appears to be inconclusive"

I'm not into "The Man" controlling every aspect of our lives, but if you can't come to a conclusion about the value of wearing a helmet, you're an idiot.

The conclusion regarding helmets seems rather stupid. What does it matter who is at fault? Does this mean that if the driver is at fault, that when my head hits the curb it will be softer?

Apples and oranges.

As for the fault conclusion, I have no scientific proof one way or the other, but it seems to me that being aware of your surroundings while on a bike would be a good thing, iof for no other reason that when startled/surprised the bike rider may swerve and have an accident. Might be the drivers fault, but road rash is road rash....
