Subject: Sudden Exposure Accidents?
Hello

The seems to be alot of talk about tri-clothing.

Has anyone had an accident during a race or training where there was clothing failure or shifting that caused exposure?

My better half does no want me to race in any color UA heat gear shorts but that is not a failure.  I think its more of a problem for her not for me as I dont care.

This could be  a good topic for a cold Friday.

Kevin

rstocks3 insists that this was an "accident" at the 2008 Finger Lakes Triathlon, but I personally believe he's just a creepy old guy who wanted to moon everyone:

No, we didn't need to see that...

Not really a wardrobe malfunction but there was an older guy running next to me at a race in Ireland last year that whipped it out and started peeing while continuing to run.  As you can imagine it (and the urine) was going all over the place.  We were passing through a little town and there was a little girl, maybe 6, standing on the side of the road tugging on her mom's sweater and pointing... poor thing, probably scarred for life... I know I am.

I haven't had the "pleasure" of seeing any, nor have I had any wardrobe malfunctions myself. But I have been terrified of this happening to me the last couple summers. I never had a wetsuit so I was swimming in just my tri shorts and a sports bra. I used to be SO nervous that I would pop out of the water and I would be popping out of my wet sports bra as well. For some reason they don't fit the same when they are drenched... Thankfully Santa brought me a wetsuit this year so I can worry about swimming faster instead of worrying about my clothing this summer!

Never happened to me, but the newly outlawed swim suits were known to tear upon bending over for the swim start.  This was from the European Championships last year.

WTH?

Split suit?  come-on.

That is a malfunction if it is a real photo of a racer.

Two things happend at my second tri:
1. A woman was swimming in tri shorts and a white sports bra. Don't know what she was thinking, but the crowd really liked her.
2. A different woman was donning a jacket in T1 and bent over to grab some stuff. Pictures were being taken of me at the time, and in one of the frames there's some boobage. Guess her cups runneth over.

The lessons learned: Sturdy dark colored sports bras ladies!

Several days ago I was running some boring base miles on a local fitness center's 1/8th mi elevated indoor track.  Entrance to the track is on the back stretch, and there is an open railing perpendicular to (and clearly visible from) that part of the track. Midway through my run a couple very fit ladies in their 20's decided to limber up.  They each put an ankle up on that railing facing up the track & bent forward to stretch.  Remember the famous scene from Fatal Attraction????  Let's just say that day's base miles suddenly got a whole lot less boring

This wasn't a tri race, but back when I was in at U of Michigan, they had a criterion bike race that consisted of many laps around the central campus.  There was a guy that my roommate noticed had a rip in his shorts.  At first it was a tiny rip up high on one cheek.  Each lap the tear grew and as the race went on, the tear went from the upper right to lower left and both cheeks were fully exposed.  At that point the guy got lapped and had to drop out, which was probably a good thing.
