Ill be visiting those florida areas in early march.  March 7th-11 to be exact. Does anyone have any recommendations for
1.  any group ows? or where to ows? What is the general water temperature in those areas?
2.  group rides?
3.  A place to rent a good tri bike or even road bike while im there?

Any advice about training opportunities would be greatly appreciated.  I wanna get some quality work in cause this weather in Texas is just pathetic.  Thanks!

1. OWS at any of the beaches. Watch here for posts (especially from Renee) as there is likely to be a good number of BTers swimming down there frequently. Right now, the water temp is 61º (too chilly for me), but if we get back to a normal weather pattern, it should be upper 60's to maybe even low 70's by mid-March. The Mad Dogs weekly swims should be going on by then too.

2. Contact Chainwheel Drive. More specifically, their weekly ride schedule.

3. See #2.

Water temps are still fluctuating and crispy cold. In 4 weeks (when you'll be here), the water temp should be much nicer (fingers crossed). Bring your wetsuit; you know, be prepared and all that.

At the moment, the water temp is 58o.  That's too cold for my blood even in a wetsuit; 64 is my lower limit. You can always check the current water temp here.

Oh, we usually go on a Wednesday but weekends are a possibility.

I think one leaves from park blvd at 7:30 and one from the shop at 9:30.   Or how is the st petes ride from the library at 8:30 on saturday?  Id like to see some good scenery while im getting some hard rides in! Thanks a bunch

Bike rental   http://outspokin.net/   Great people there and they have very nice equipment to rent. They are one of the sponsors for St. Anthony's

They can also direct you towards the group rides if not try here http://www.stpetecycling.com/

OWS hmmm it will be a little cold for us locals but if you were coming 2 weeks later the Wednesday night swim with the http://www.stpetemaddogs.com/21501.html kicks off on the 19th.

But if you really want to swim Archibaldspark right at the Gulf Blvd and the Tom stuart causey is nice. I swim there all the time when the water is a little warmer. good landmarks to judge you distances. FYI the public parking lot to the south of the park is 1/2 mile away
