Last Chance for Boston : Official Thread

well - i tore up my legs doing the spinning in last weeks indoor tri.  it hurts to climb stairs, get to a standing position or generally move.  i actually considered a DNS.  i have only done this twice in nearly 500 races.

a few friend (and my competitive drive) got me to the starting line.

at go i thought i could do it.  5 paces later i thought OH NO I JUST TORE MUSCLES IN MY LEGS!

i considered taking my first ever DNF.  I passed my car 2 tenths of a mile in but decided that since the pace was slow i would just stick with the leaders.  

my first 1.2 miles was a minute and a half behind my goal of 7:00.

at that point i was actually happy in thinking that i am still with the leaders and i could maintain that pace.  the rest of the race i wanted 6:30 miles and i was right on that.

I DID FINISH.  I only lost time in that first lap.
Best of all - I won the race.

granted this was NOT a highly competitive race but to walk away with a win any day especially while injured is AWESOME!!!!!!

That was YOU!? Nice job. We were finishing, like, lap 21 when you finished. You came flying by us as we approached the line.

no - that wasn't me.  i know the guy you are talking about who was flying doing the full.  I did the 10k.  so at your lap 21 I was already back at my house.
