Pre-race routine:

Pre-race routine started on Friday when I went to the doctor's office - officially a sinus infection! Took antibiotics on Friday and felt much better. Saturday morning was the usual PB sandwich, banana and water.

Event warmup:

Found my marked spot, talked to a few people, did my dynamic stretches and ran a half lap.

Comments:

I had hopes of a 1:59 but backed off due to the fact the I was running a marathon the next day. Kept it around 2:35 laps, had fun talking to people, worked hard to keep my focus. Once the ice rink started to fill up the distraction helped.

Best story of the day: about lap two the announcer was on the mic talking about the concessions, coffee, etc. He mentioned that they were selling cookies in the entry area. As I passed the water station, I looked at the volunteers and asked, "where is my cookie?" They all laughed and I kept running. Two laps later, one of the volunteers was handing me a cookie as I ran past!!!! Hilarious! I ran the whole lap holding the cookie. People were taking pictures of this idiot running a half marathon with a cookie. It was all great fun. Set the tone for a fun day.

Special thanks to Nicole, Kim and Stacy for the cheering section. You were so great!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. It was all about trying to save something for Sunday.
Post race
Warm down:

Tried to fuel up: drank a bottle of chocolate milk, then a glass of Recoverite. Had a few bites of banana then headed upstairs to wait in line for a massage. Spent 20 minutes talking to Djdavey, Heidi, lrunfit and schwimmycoach.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

20 pounds.

Event comments:

Volunteers were first-rate. Very organized race. Just a lot of fun!
