Subject: logging workouts: TrainingPeaks vs BT
Hi!  Has anyone used trainingpeaks.com to log workouts?  It's what I'm using right now (just started a few weeks ago), and I was wondering how it compares to BT's logs... Thoughts regarding using BT vs training peaks for logging workouts?  Thanks!

Steve Stenzel (Steve in a Speedo, great blog!) did a great writeup comparing BT and other training log sites...he liked BT the best!

This isn't an either/or. Try a handful and see which you keep coming back to. Of course when you ask questions here the first place we're going to look is the logs here to see where you're headed now.

I joined BT years ago specificaly for the training logs. I have used a coach (that I connected with through BT), and while my workouts were delivered on training peaks, I still logged here on BT.

Now, as a coach, I have anywhere from 6-12 athletes at a time whose workouts I deliver through training peaks.

But where do I still log my workouts? Right here on BT. It's just the best. But you'll only know if you try out a few different things and see for yourself.

From a coaching point of view traininig peaks has a lot to offer. But for the logs, I think BT has everyone beat.

It is hard to beat BT. I use both, like you. Have been using TP for 3 years now. I hate new interface. However, as a new power meter user, and I hate to say this, it offers more than BT. My Edge 500 is not compatible here, neither can you do anything with power data here. That is the only down side to BT. Otherwise, love BT.

I hated Training Peaks. I merely dislike BT's approach.

They're both fundamentally flawed in the sense that common data entry operations take way too many clicks / tabs to get anything done.

I use both. I prefer BT, but have to log my workouts for my coach in TP.

I use both but like BT much better other than having power data not uploadable on BT.

I dislike new TP interface a lot.

BT is for me and I have my training logs since I started logging back in '05. TP I use with my coach he uploads my plan and fill in what I do.

If I didn't have a coach who used it I wouldn't use TP.

Many of you are way to bright to even debate this.  Create the software.  It is flawed in every way possible and needs to be modernized in so many ways.  Come on you IT folks.  This is a Bill Gates opportunity right here right now!

Much prefer BT. As with others, I hate the new TP interface.

I'm just the opposite. The Flash media on TP isn't that bad. The Good thing about it is you can batch upload. Which is helpful when you do two a day workouts. I use the TP Device agent to upload either my FR60 or Edge 500 data.. I have my workouts in word and just copy and paste my stuff into it.

I tried the BT one for a bit and just couldn't get the hang of inputting my data. I will say the TP nutrition tracker leave much to be desired. Its awkward and hard to find the foods you eat. This is where Livestrong.com kicks it's mighty @ss.
