Hi there

My name is Luke and I live in Melbourne, Australia.

As you may (or may not) know, triathlon is huge in this country - we are fortunate enough to live in a climate where outdoor sport is possible all year round.

I have been running for many years. I started out doing cross country at secondary school but stopped running at university (discovered alcohol!!). At the age of 26 I found myself living alone in London in winter having just broken up with my ex-girlfriend. One thing I can say is that being alone in London in winter is not a particularly nice place to be..........that's when I discovered running again.

Anyway, I have now been running again for 6 years and decided at the start of 2004 that I would compete in a triathlon this year. I have now been lucky enough to compete in two short course (400m swim/10km (6mile) ride/4km (2.5 mile) run). Wow!! I absolutely loved it.

Unfortunately our season has just ended as we are heading into winter but I'm determined to keep training for the new season in November.

Can not wait!!

Welcome to the board, Luke--

If it took London and a broken heart, I'm glad you found your way back to a sport you love! Hope we keep you encouraged during the winter months!

Thanks guys - good to hear from you all.

I may be over in the U.S. sometime later in the year or early next year for work. Could be for as long as 12 months. If so, you'll have to fill me in on all the triathlons going on.

Cheers

Luke

G'day Sharon

I have been told it will be one of New York, Charlotte, Denver or Atlanta. At this stage I'm not even 100% sure it will happen but I hope so. Would be a good experience no doubt.

I travelled through LA, Miami and New York last year but only spent a couple of days in each city. Would like to extend my stay next time.

Welcome Luke,

While you want to come to U.S. I am dying to go to Australia. A friend of my works at the Syndey newspaper and I've been meaning to travel over there to see her. Then I saw "Finding Nemo..." and fell in love with Australia all over again. Glad you're tri'ing and hope you do get to come to the U.S. Happy training!

Ovetta.

Nice one Ovetta

Sydney is a great city. I've always enjoyed it when I've been up there. Make sure you get around to a few other places though if you do make it over here.

Cheers
