Pre-race routine:

Left before 7 to go pick up Richard (DickDime), then went to go get coffee then to the race site. Got there pretty early and had a good transition spot. It was cold and very icy on the course..So I borrowed a friends Cross bike for this race.
Event warmup:

Ran a bit with Richard and Drew to get the legs a bit warmed up then back to the TZ spot to finish getting set up. I hear that wave D just went off and I am wave F! Crap I better move it. The bike was first and the run second in this race.

Comments:

I passed every one ahead of me in the first five waves except 1 mtn biker who I wanted to pass quickly on the run. I passed him at the 1/2 mile mark and just ran hard. THe footing was tough and I had noone to pace off of so I just ran as hard as I could. It was a mediocre run. It was good to see Richard and my wife at the finish line! I actually caught up to the run only people and caught 10 of them.

This was after I finished the bike! It was quick and I was on a mission to catch the 1 guy ahead of me.

Comments:

The bike was first! I get up to the start line with 30 seconds to spare. SO I am behind 4 MTN bikers so I stay left and and go by them at the word GO. I pushed hard on the straights and dry sections. All turns were quite scary with ice and ruts and snow.. I quickly passed everyone and couldn't catch the last guy who started 5 waves ahead. He was just leaving transition as I pulled in. Glad to be off the bike. It was so cold that My wife, Julia and Richard all sat in the car and yelled from there as I went by.

Warm down:

Uh it was cold and many people switched from the duathlon to the run only and didn'tell the race director so he decided not to do awards today so went all went to lunch at CB and Potts.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My back still hurt a bit and not cycling much.

Event comments:

Great race for the value. I ended up winning all 3 of the races so I ended up 1st in the agegroup overall. This one was cold.
