Iron Donkey 38643     , Wisconsin | Subject: RE: What distance did/will you race at your first tri? My first tri was the SOR HIM (Spirit of Racine (WI) 1/2 IM) with the OWS in Lake Michigan (brrrr, even for July), back in 2007. Second race was IM WI (Moo) in Madison, WI less than 2 months later. |

I did a Sprint cause I was signed up for a 1/4 Iron distance race and wanted to test things out in a Sprint first. BUT, I was signed up for a HIM a year out and worked my way up to it through various sprints, Olys, and another HIM (that I wasn't quite ready to do!). It was great to do the Sprint to figure out the intricacies of transition, etc!! Not much of a fan of sprints anymore, too short and fast! |

Regular 853 | Subject: RE: What distance did/will you race at your first tri? Old Hickory Lake sprint tri was my 1st in 2009. Ended up doing Scenic Mountain also in 2009 that wasn't quite an Oly, but close. I would love to do HIM, but with crazy schedules/kids/ and not a whole lotta pool options, it might be 2011 or 2012 before that happens. Guess I'll stick to sprints/olys for now. jami |

Expert 1342 Apex, NC | Subject: RE: What distance did/will you race at your first tri? I put in 2/3 sprint. My wife and I were a relay team. She swam, I biked and ran. Well, jogged. Okay, more like walked with brief spells of faster walking. That was 2004. We should do that every time...she schools me in the water. |
