Run
Comments: i actually considered a DNS. i have only done this twice in nearly 500 races. a few friends (and my competitive drive) got me to the starting line. at go i thought i could do it. 5 paces later i thought OH NO I JUST TORE MUSCLES IN MY LEGS! i considered taking my first ever DNF. I passed my car 2 tenths of a mile in but decided that since the pace was slow i would just stick with the leaders. my first 1.2 miles was a minute and a half behind my goal of 7:00. at that point i was actually happy in thinking that i am still with the leaders and i could maintain that pace. the rest of the race i wanted 6:30 miles and i was right on that. I DID FINISH. I only lost time in that first lap. Best of all - I won the race. granted this was NOT a highly competitive race but to walk away with a win any day especially while injured is AWESOME!!!!!! i consider my overall run good considering the circumstances. What would you do differently?: not schedule races 7 days apart. i was not properly trained for the spin bike the week before. Post race
Warm down: half a mile jog What limited your ability to perform faster: injury Event comments: I like this race because of the time of year it is offered. It is well run with no frills. It is convenient and i actually like the one mile loop. Last updated: 2010-02-12 12:00 AM
