Pre-race routine:

ate bananna, little bit of water
Event warmup:

stretching only
Run
  • 23m 5s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

pushed my pace to keep up with pack but was comfortable. just didn't expect to keep that pace for the first run. took no water.
What would you do differently?:

nothing but run faster!
Transition 1
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

every race i do i feel like i just don't rush the transitions. and every race i realized how hard it is to gain back that lost time on the bike. going to change that.
What would you do differently?:

need to work on my mount. with shoes on, or with shoes on bike.
Bike
  • 45m 35s
  • 15 miles
  • 19.74 mile/hr
Comments:

bike is my weak link. i started off too strong i think. every time i'd look down on the first loop i was doing 22-23mph. 2nd loop was tired and started getting less comfortable. 3rd loop was more uncomfortable on the saddle but decided to keep my pace comfortable for the first half and then sprint to the finish. planning and pacing is not a streght of mine.

general uncomfortableness on saddle has been a problem for a while. i've been testing some other saddles and i made the decision to use my origional saddle for the race. i had the nose down about 4degrees b/c the nose pressure was pretty bad when i was on the trainer a few nights before. probably too much tilt b/c i was pushing myself back in the saddle pretty frequently. this ride cements my decision to go get fit on this bike.
What would you do differently?:

train more and have a plan
Transition 2
  • 59m
Comments:

someones bag got pushed right where my down tire was and due to my slowness, there were already bikes on both sides of me. the bag got in the way of my tire and my bike leaned sideways and banged into the other bike. oops! hopefully it was the bag owners.so i had to duck under the rack and move the bag so my bike would hang properly w/o resting agains the other bike. bike shoes off/runners on went well.
Run
  • 25m 28s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

legs were a little heavy after the bike. toes and balls of feet were a little sensitive right off the bike for about 100yards. kept pace pretty slow the first mile or so. picked up the pace after the turn around and pushed hard for a negative split. the crowd of runners around me at the end all sprinted so i did to. that includes the <14yr old boy that smoked by me at the finish. should be a funny picuture of me looking like death and yong kid smoking me!
What would you do differently?:

pace better and start pushing earlier in the run.
Post race
Warm down:

stretching, gatorage

What limited your ability to perform faster:

weak bike legs

Event comments:

great race. will do it again for sure!
