here's one to add to the thread. Someone I know who lives near Keuka Lake said the lake is actually still below 50 degrees.

Not to worry. Every time I've done this race I've had feeling return to my feet by the time I started the run.

Its supposed to be hot all week.  Highs in the 80s to near 90.  Even better, the lows are supposed to only go down into the 50s.  This should make a nice bump to the lake temps.

I bet it'll get into the 60s.  The water temp for my race this weekend was 62 and it was not as frighteningly cold as I had expected.  It was actually....refreshing.

less than 2 weeks...really?!?!

I agree with Witty....gonna be hot this week...water last year was fine.

honestly, the crapy roads should be a higher concern than the water....and the roads are not that bad......

Wasn't the water 62 last year? Wasn't that bad once you got your face used to it. I don't remember the roads being all that bad. I was on a carbon roadbike not a tri bike.

I was fine with the water last year too... the roads are mostly rough on 54 where the joints are in the sections of the cement. As long as you're prepared for a ride that will be a little bumpy, it should be fine.

So, our tri club is doing a water stop... any music requests? Rich (race director) says we should be able to park close enough to blast the car radio.  Plus, I think we need a theme... ideas?! =)

I just checked my report from last year. The word I used to describe road conditions was "atrocious".   I've done this race every year since 2005 and the road's been deteriorating every year.  That section of 54 really is bad. There have been some really dangerous potholes on that down hill, and the shoulder has been crumbling away for years.

I've had some very close calls due to road conditions at this race, and it's the only one I can say that about.

I would suggest a Village People medley! (since I am unfortunately going to miss the race!)

I agree, this may be my last year racing Keuka unless the roads are fixed or the course is changed.

Anything from any Rocky movie that predates Rocky V is always a good choice for a race.

Did my first OWS of the season at Canandaigua yesterday. Don't know what the water temp was, but it wasn't bad. Forgot how much fun getting in to wetsuits can be. Should be all set for next weekend.

I will be running Vittoria's Diamante Pro. This tire has a good combination of grip, low rolling resistance, and puncture resistance.

Kershaw is open with buoys.  Water temps in the 60s.   I heard on the news last night that Keuka's lake temp is 62 right now.  With another warm week forecast, it should be even warmer by next weekend.

Keuka water temp for 5/28/10 (according the the Keuka Lake Association): 62 degrees.

Get set for great swim and watch yourself on the stairs leading up to T1.

Sincerely,
The guy who ate it on the stairs in '09.
