Define decently priced? new LGs and Giros can run you 100-150. Used Lazer, Spuiks, etc can run you 100-150. I've used most of those, and they all have decent ventilation (most will). There's a belief out there that just because an aero helmet doesn't have vents means it gets hot. That's simply not the case. However, aero helmets aren't meant to be used at 10mph. You need moving air (as in the case w/ most helmets) to keep your noggin cool. The other thing is helmets, like saddles, are a very personal thing, and what works for one person may not work for you (even if your heads are the same size). You may need to try on a few to see what fits well and works well w/ your aero fit.

Here's a decent primer on some popular aero helmets out there:

WTF? Guess I like hearing myself talk. That, or I've been taking that "post count matters" thread too literally...

Price wise you are looking at the same range for a few different options.  The biggest concern is how they fit you and your position on the bike.  Depending how flexible you are and the curve in your spine, some helmets may work better than others.  Some are cut higher than others and sit differently on your head.

A few ides:

Louis Garneau Rocket
Spiuk Kronos

Definitely get one that covers your ears and has a full-length tail.

Other than that, it's about which helmet fits your head best.  They all have slightly different fits, so if possible go to a shop that has them all and try them on!

I have a used one of these Rudy Project Syton Open helmets for sale: http://www.rudyprojectusa.com/images/products/helmets/syton/open_fe...

Mine is white and entirely de-badged (I put my own stickers on it for some races). It's quite open and ventilated, and as comfortable as my regular Gyro road helmet.

On eBay they seem to go for $60 to $80 so something like that would be my asking price. PM me if interested.

I have the same Rudy Project that is offered for sale above. It fits great and seems to do the job.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone, I'll go around and try a few on and if maybe even entertain the offer for the Rudy helmet.
