FirefighterWes, is your name Wesley Williams by chance??? if so, bummer. although your penalty bumped me up to 5th place in our age group!!!

i felt good after the race but was bummed out that our age group was so fast! my buddy was only 46 seconds faster than me and he got first in his age group and i got 5th. he rubbed it in a bit lol.

firefighterwes - 2010-04-27 12:19 PM No the bike course was exactly the same and yea I got 13.2 for my distance on the bike. It was a little slower pace though due to the strong head wind going up hill. Overall i thought it was a pretty good race except for the drafting nazi on the motorcycle.

Saw her on the 2nd loop were the 1st loop comes out - got congested so I held back not wanting a penalty  thinking what is 10 to 15 seconds over a 2 minute penalty, another one of my friends got one as well.

Yea that is me. I had a horrible race cause i spent the week before at the hospital with my g/f who had heart surgery. But even so i was 15 overall until the 2 min penalty. it just sucks cause I normally do draft but this me I actually wasn't. she just caught me right after i had got passed.

FYI

"There is one notable exception to this drafting rule. A participant may enter the drafting zone of another cyclist without penalty, if he or she enters the drafting zone from the rear, closes the gap and overtakes the leading cyclist all within no more than 15 seconds. This allows for the faster cyclist to pass a slower competitor and 15 seconds is a long time. When passing another cyclist take full advantage of their draft. The cyclist who has been "overtaken" bears primary responsibility for avoiding a position foul and must immediately move to the side or to the rear and out of the drafting zone of the passing cyclist".

Since you stated that you normally do draft, I do find it amusing that you are complaining about finally being caught.

You act like no one else does it. i'm pretty sure anyone in the top 25 of any given race actively draft at some point.

I have no doubt that illegal drafting goes on in every race. That does not mean that it is OK to do it. You should know better than anyone that if you play with fire, you might get burned.

I find it totally awesome that I am being called a cheater by someone that is an admitted cheater. FYI, I finished 11th overall.
