Subject: Pulled hamstring??
Been having a right hamstring issue over the last 4 weeks or so.  I'm pretty sure I just pulled it pretty good but would like some advice.  I first felt it the day after a run - the pain runs from the middle of my right glute all the way down the hamstring.  After it first happened I laid off running and it seemed to get better but it is still bothering me (I would say on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most painful when it first happened it is now a 3-4 after I workout) especially after a run but not so much after biking or swimming.  Has anyone had a hamstring issue likes this?  What did you/ how long did it take for it to completely heal?

Thanks

Hurt mine 2 weeks before my Toronto Scotia marathon and took a week off and felt 90% better and tried for my Boston time.  Lets just say you should let it heal 100%, since my stride was a little off and ended up hurting my groin also at mile 9.  By mile 20, I was doing the run, shuffle, walk, repeat, death march and finished at 4hrs.   I ended up just icing and took a week off afterwards and then slow easy mileage for a while.  Good luck.

I've had some hammie issues - - get a Foam Roller. It looks like one of those Pool Noodle float things only it bigger. It'll hurt the first time, but it's worked for me. Good for lots of other stretching and loosening.

Had a hamstring issue last year from a spinning class and went with an ice pack off and on for two days.  I was really hurting the first day, walking backwards on stairs, etc.  Went to ice and heat and let it settle for a few days which is hard for me to do.  Within in a week I was almost pain free which was pretty miraculous given the initial discomfort I was in.  You've been dealing with this for weeks, so I'm not sure how much this would help if at all.

Hello

The doctors and people doing the PT on my knee thought I had hamstring issues. The pain from running stayed and I finally went to Ortho Doctor, then MRI, Surgery for Mencius repair and now 9 1/2 weeks post OP and starting to run.  It never effected my swimming or riding.

It could be a knee problem.

Just because it's been lingering for so long I would go see a sports ortho doc/PT. You don't want this thing to linger all year long. Hamstring issues have a way of taking forever to heal if not taken care of properly. Get it treated now while it's a smaller issue rather than later when it's become a very chronic issue. Just what I would do.
