*It's a post about bikes - get your head out of the gutter*
I have a while to do some research but wanted to find out from the BT girlies what they are riding.
Pics are very welcome.
I am 5'9" with long legs, it sure would be nice to have a bike that fit me well.
If you could also share why you bought the bike you did that would be great!
Thanks!

I have a QR Kilo (standard not women's version).  But that works for me because I have a short inseam and longer torso, like a man.  It fits okay.

I have a friend who's similar to you - taller with longer legs, and she LOVES her Trek Equinox WSD.    I'm biased against the Trek TT bike because I think the component group is not worth the price, but if it works...

Or are you talking road bikes?  Contrary to what I just said above... I have a Trek WSD road bike (entry level version) and LOVE that bike.  It was love at first ride.

My road bike is a Trek 1500, not WSD.  My tri bike is a Litespeed Blade, also not WSD.

I have a shorter inseam and long torso, so I usually do ok on a men's frame.

my road bike is a specialized allez-elite, I'm also long-legged 5'8" and may be looking for a tri-bike after this season so, i am stalking this thread for answers too!
WSD bikes never seem to fit me either.

My g/f is the same size-ish as you, 5'9'' or 10'', longer legs.

She rode my QR caleinte for a few races and fit well on that (size M, too big for me), rode a felt B2 for two years, and is now on a cervelo P3C. (the later two in size 54).

I just brought home my QR CD0.1 tri bike. I got that bike cause it's what fit me! When I went into my shop, my mind was completely open except for a budget. I was not stuck on any brand, model, etc.. We did the pre-fit thing and viola!  My roadie is a Trek 2100 WSD. I had a fit done on it after the fact and it was determined that I don't need a WSD frame. I have a longer reach and the WSD scrunched me up too much, so we put stem extenders on it to stretch me out.. I'm vertically challenged (5'4.5") so I can't really comment about your gift of height!
Good luck with your journey!

I'm excessively tall (6'1") with excessively long legs (37" inseam in pants) so WSD were never an option for me.  Because I need a shorter top tube, I ride a 56cm Trek Madone 5.2. I'll be looking for a tri bike in a bit and am going to have to start paying attention to which bikes tend to be a little shorter in the top tube. I have heard that Cervelo tends to have a longer cockpit, and QR is shorter. But still need to gather more data.

Good luck with your search, I'll be checking in here to see what info pops up!

I ride a Specialized Allez Elite (56).  I am 5'9.5 and have an inseam of 36.  I love my bike, but think it might be a little big for me.  This is a road bike, not tri bike.

I ride a 51cm Cervelo Soloist Carbon road bike...and I'm 5'6".   I also have a 54cm Trek 2100 WSD road bike that I rode for one season, but it ended up being too big for me...hence the reason I bought a 51cm.   But I might be in the market for another road bike...one with a "plush" geometry.  I love my Cervelo, but it has an extremely aggressive geometry (for me...I have lower back issues).   If I can find a buyer for it, I would likely be looking at a Giant Defy Advanced 1, a Cervelo RS, or a Scott CR1 Pro.   I really have no interest in a tri bike.

Say, I don't suppose i could convince you ladies to start a new thread called "The Women of BT Bike Porn" where you all can post pics of your sweet rides.....and annoy the PC crowd.
Here's my wife's Dulce, before we for her and lowered those bars. Again, she is about 5'7" with a 33 1/2" in seam.

I have a Kuota K Factor... I ride size small I'm 5'5.5" with a 30.5" inseam

(I know I need matching tires but tubulars are expensive and I seem to get flats on rear only)

I'd like to get a new tri bike this year as I've gained flexibility since I bought it. I did remove stakers to see how I feel in that position.

This thread makes me feel like a midget.

I ride a what is basically a child's size Fuji starter road bike. It's a 49cm Newest 2.0. I bought it because I got a good deal on it and it's better than riding my mountain bike. It gets the job done......for now. I'm lusting after a Tri bike, but I'll hold off for a few more months/races. My first solo Tri is next month.

Oh, I'm 5'1". In shoes. Embarassed

I know you have already seen mine because you commented on the frame but I will post here for you as well so that you can keep all of your data in on thread.

I have a trek TTX (Size XS). I am built more like a man (long torso, short legs) and I am 5'3 so trek seems to work the best for me.

I also have a trek road bike 2.1 wsd but had to put a longer stem on it so that I would stretch out.

Here is the tri bike

Bryan, that Dulce is gooooorgeous. She needs some blue wheels to match, though. droool...

Keri, I'll be riding whatever it is that you are giving up, k? I mean, don't want your old bike to get jealous do you?

I'm on a Trek roadie, so I'm no help. Sorry!

Oh, and with this crowd, I would guess being about bikes would BE in the gutter - why do you think we call it porn?!

Here's the problem... two people with the exactly the same measurements )length, leg length, torso length, etc.) may actually need to very different bike geometries... you need to include aspects such as ridng style, goals, geography where you are riding, you need to add flexibility, you need to add previous injuries etc. All this means that it's near impossible to decide on a bike (at least if you want it to perfectly fit YOU) based on other peoples bikes, even if they happen to be just as tall/short etc.

Yes, bike fitting costs money, but it does allow you to get the perfect bike instead of gambling that a specific brand/model will work.

Regarding why you see so many women on Quintana Roo's... very simple, QR geometry is fairly short/low, which commonly fits women as they have shorter upper body and usually greater range of motion.

I'm about your size. I ride a QR Seduza, but I went with a small frame, which seemed to fit my relatively short upper body better than the medium..... I needed a different stem to get the fit dialed in, but I'm very happy with it!

I have a Cervelo P2K.  We turned the seatpost around - so a little less aggressive (but we need to adjust fit this year so that may change) and we did have to swap out the aero bars for ones that are adjustable and the stem for a much shorter one.

It's a 51cm frame.

I have REALLY long legs and I'm 5'7".  I was worried when I was looking at buying the bike that it was too small - but it's perfect!  Now my road bike feels HUGE. (It's a 54)

Thanks so much for all the replies.
Right now I am riding a 54" Mercier road bike that has a 'tri fit'.
I do plan on going to my local tri shop to get fit but I also know they will try to sell me one of the brands they carry and I am not ready to limit my options just yet.

Stefanier - it's a good thing your bike is an XS or else I'd be ummmm stalking you.  Could you post the site where you are able to play with custom paint jobs?  OMG that would be so awesome!
I have an embroidery business but this is going to be my last year in business and my husband says once I sell my industrial embroidery machine I can get my tri bike.
Anybody want to buy an industrial embroidery machine - you could stitch on your very own tri bag and make aweseome gifts for all your friends - LOL

LOVE the white/periwinkle Q-Roo but I think that is an older model as I haven't seen that color scheme in the newer bikes.  I love the look of the Dulce and I know lots of women love it but I am really not a fan of the new pink cammo pant scheme.

I don't necessarily expect to find the perfect bike for me in this thread but it will give me ideas on bikes I should look at.
