I am surprised that no one has started a thread for this event.

This will be my second tri (my first was the Race on the Base on 02/27/10) and I am trying to get a little insight into the event from anyone who is a repeat.

I am a little concerned because following the last event, it took a bit of a break and now I am trying to play catch-up with my training.

I'll be there too! I did it last year. Awesome race, except I wound up getting a cramp and sidelined on the bike for about 10-15 minutes.

This is a GREAT event.  I will be there cheering for you all!  Look for me -- I look just like my avatar pic and will probably have a walkie talkie style radio.   Let me know if you have any Qs.

I'm doing this race with my 14 year old daughter Camille.  It's her first tri! I'm so proud.  I'll be wearing my LA Tri gear - if you see me please say hello. I'd love to meet you!  Also participating Saturday in the 5K is my dad, my sister and one of my brothers - a family affair. I am excited - should be fun.

See you there Gail!

Is it Ok to run on the pool deck after T2  ?  Is diving into the pool allowed ?

Is the run/bike loop separated  ?

Nope, nope, and I'll check -- it's the same loop, but usually we have cones separating run and bike.  I was over there today; the road has a lot of cracks and they were filling them, but it's still mostly a smooth ride.

Tomorrow is the day.  Ready or not.  Weather should be great (at least better than Race on the Base last month . . . is stated pouring rain at the beginning of the run and did not stop until half way through the ride).

I think any of us who did Race on the Base in February will be thrilled to enjoy clear skies at tomorrow's race!  I have done several triathlons but this will be my first time at the Pasadena Tri - can't wait!!

Race on the Base was my first event and it was quite an experience.

Don't forget to put "BT" on your calf tomorrow.

What a nice morning it was . Hope everyone had a good time .

Biggest surprise for me was How HOT the pool was . I felt like a Hot tub when i jumped in there.  It is a nice way to finish a race.

Had a great time for my first Triathlon...everything went super smooth.

Beat goal of 1:05:00 handily, coming in at 1:00:14 and getting a 10th place finish in my division.

Had a great time and thanks to everyone who answered all my dumb questions prior to the event...lol.

One thing I will add is that the distances seemed to be a bit off. The 5K was actually about 3.4 miles and the ride was 9.69....not 9.3....just FYI when looking at your split times.

Congratulations to all who did the Pasadena Triathlon. Congratulations Fastyellow on finishing 10th in your division, and thanks for the info about the actual race distance.

For anyone considering doing the event next year - it was a nice, clearly marked course around the Rose Bowl and a very well-organized event. Event coffee mug rather then medal awarded to all finishers - drinking my morning coffee out of it as we speak :-)

Long drive up from (2hrs) and back to (3.5hrs) San Diego, but worth it!  Spectacular weather, particularly after the rainy Race on the Base Tri and bicycling in the constant blasting rain at the Gran Fondo Colnago San Diego 53 miler LOL

Great event with a lot of volunteers.  Everyone, participants and event staff, was helpful and friendly.  Bike racks could have been better marked (i.e., age group or bib number) but otherwise really enjoyed the event.

So glad everyone had fun!  We (the event staff) had a great time and are thrilled people thought it was a well-run race.  Please come out to other Generic Events, like the Xterra trail runs and Playa del Runs in the summer.  VanPaul, yes, that pool is ALWAYS hot.  The other one is colder.  And yes, the course is long b/c once around the bowl is just over 5k, and you still had to ride to/from the aquatic center...I'll suggest that the website reflect that next year perhaps.
