Run
Comments: My goal was to push as close to 8 min/mile as I could and I came out with 8:20 officially. (The course was 6.45 by my GPS, a little longer than expected.) The first half mile was more or less a slow walk with one point that the whole pack just stopped as we went around a corner. Taking out that section that was on the order of 11:00 - 12:00 min/mile, I end up with about 8:08. This tells me my winter training plan worked!! Compared to my results on the last 10K just before Thanksgiving: 8:43 min/mile, 211/437 overall, 20/30 AG (M35-39), 146/220 M. I would call this a success! What would you do differently?: Starting at the back of the pack was nuts. Half a mile of walking, another 1.5 miles of dodging people before I could run straight. I wonder how much better I would have been if I started at the right spot. Post race
Warm down: At 35 degrees, it didn't take much to cool down! Good food - California Pizza Kitchen, Larabars, El Dorado vitamin water - mmmmmm! What limited your ability to perform faster: I obviously need more speed work, but I'm pushing into the top 10 of my AG. Starting at the right place for the race start would help. Event comments: I wouldn't hesitate to do this one again. Next time, the half marathon! Placings: 12/36 M40-49 42/140 M 71/419 Overall Last updated: 2010-03-14 12:00 AM
