This will be my last tri if I do it.

Eh?  Are you retiring?

Sounds like those registrations are a hot comodity, according to Kathie Dunbar.  I bet you could get a pretty penny if you sell it!

This will be my last tri if I do it.  I'd be open to selling my registration to anyone who really wants to do this race.  Its a great race.  In the past they have allowed registration transfers.

As far as a practice, I am out because of Bayshore on Memorial Day weekend.

Have fun at practice.  2 years ago, it was my 1st introduction to BT and I met Matt, Jaclyn, Ranger, Polly, Brickey, and Jenniferlyn.  The practice was great and really calmed my nerves for my 1st tri.

You met me there too!

Why are ya giving up tri's?

Oops, how could I forget.  Sorry. I met Kristen there too!!!

I gave up training for tri's a couple of months ago when I decided to focus on running only.  I was finding it to difficult to balance my training with a 60 hr/week job, 5 young adult kids (with graduations, weddings, grandbabies), and have any life whatsoever.  I have Bayshore Half, USAF half, Chicago full, Detroit half, and Las Vegas full on my calendar.  Most of those are for fun.  USAF and Chicago are for goals.

My tri bike will be posted for sale as soon as I look at it and can give some specs.  My wetsuit will be for sale also after or before Hawk if I dump the registration.

I am sure I will see some of you at the running events.  I am always up for a group run or even the running leg of a relay.    This way I can just suck at 1 discipline instead of sucking at 3 disciplines.

Jogo - I second contacting K Dunbar, this is sold out at 800 registrants.  So you could check with her about transferring your reg to someone else.  I'm certain that there is a waiting list, they've had a list the last few years.

For a training day - The 29th (Saturday) Time - Mid-Morning say 9 or 10?

Maps - Please print one of these off for the bike and bring it with you.

Looks like the run plan will be the alternate run from last year.  Flat out and back on a well shaded/paved path.  Bring everything that you plan to bring to the race to this training.  We can run through transition practices if you'd like.

The swim practice will have to be in the swim/buoyed area, so plan on a few laps... unless the park police aren't around.  Water temp should be comfortable and closely resemble race day temps.

If you have any questions, please message me and I'll get back to you quickly.  I look forward to meeting many of you and likewise, look forward to seeing many of you again!

jeremy,

if i remember correctly, last year we ran, biked, swam (in that order) because we couldn't go in the water until the guards we on duty (not coop dootie) . will we do the same this year?

We can certainly do the same this year or bike, run, swim - either works for me.  I prefer to do that, not because of the lifeguards, but because it's easier to warm up and go home (or Leo's Lodge) after the swim, rather than to get wet and keep on training.

If anyone has any special requests or questions, now's the time to ask. PM me if you'd prefer not to ask publicly.

I'll try and be there for the trial runthrough (in part because I badly need transition practice!), but I'm painfully slow at... uh... everything, so I don't expect anyone to wait around for me during the actual legs. Jo, you can't give up your registration, this is my opportunity to finally meet you in person, darn it! Good luck at Bayshore.

Anyone know what the water temps are likely to be there on the 29th?

Well then I guess I have to do Hawk.  Let my first be the one that will be my last.  I love hawk and lost my tri-virginity there in 2008.

The water temps are usually 57-59 degrees at Hawk, if its anything like the past couple of years.  The first year that we did the "run through" it was 45 degrees air temp so the water didn't seem to bad till you got out.  Brrrrrr......

=-(  I think things have been booked solid for the last week!  Hopefully you can find someone that doesn't want to/can't race anymore that's willing to give you their number!

I'm hoping to be able to come out and meet everyone!  I will bravely bring up the rear and make sure no one gets left behind ;-)

I'm trying to get out for this practice run, since I won't be able to accommodate the random training event next weekend.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

I'm starting to freak out a little bit! I ran the route at Hawk Island Saturday and it was beautiful. I'm bummed that I missed the unofficial BT tri yesterday but I'm looking forward to meeting some of you this Saturday. Are any of you tapering this week for the practice or are you just going to go a bit slower?

So, who will be going out to Hawk Island on Saturday for the practice run?  Also, are we starting at 9am or 10am?

Let's get a list going so we know who to look for out there:

According to http://ingham.org/pk/Summer.htm the beach is not open for swimming until a lifeguard is on duty at noon. That kind of stinks. Can we get special permission or do we just hope we're in and out of there before anyone says anything?
