Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:45, rounded up the family, and we were out the door an hour later. Drove up to Geneva, and arrived at the Barn at Hobart & Smith College to pick up my race packet. Arrived at Seneca State Park about 8:25, 5 minutes before the transition area closed.
Event warmup:

Running around trying to get my bike in the transition area before it closed, an then getting my chip and body marking done. After that was all done, hung out with rstocks3, mtimoffeef and my wife and kids prior to the start.

Comments:

For what ever reason, the water was very shallow, making it possible to walk shortly after the turn around buoy. This was a great help to poor swimmers such as myself.

So, even though my time was more than 2 minutes faster than last year, it had to do with the fact that the water was so shallow, thus making the swim a lot shorter. I was 425 out of 568 in the swim, as compared to last year's 399 out of 496. So a net gain of 2+ minutes was negligible in the overall standings.

I chopped only about 20 seconds off of last years long T1 time. I know I lost about 30 seconds trying to get my Garmin around my wrist.

I started out really attacking the course, and was ahead of last year's pace until mile 12 or so. My downfall was slowing down to drink on a long slight incline. I lost a lot of time here and learned a lesson.
What would you do differently?:

Confine my drinking to downhills.

I had next to nothing for his run. I felt like I was barely moving, and could get any speed at all. I'm not used to getting passed on run, but I was passed repeatedly.
