Subject: Length of pools @ 24 Hour Fitness?
I swam at the one in Shawnee a couple times last year, and will probably join up and frequent the one near Independence Center when I start working near there soon.

When I took a tour at Independence I was told the pool was 25m.  N - F- Way that thing is a full 25 meters.  The pool is long enough, but I think they are setting people up to cheat themselves thinking their 32 laps = a mile when they are really coming up LAPS short.

Has anyone measured one?  Are they even all the same? I think someone told me at the other store it was 20 yards. That seems closer to reality.

Thanks.

I was told by my 24 hour that it is 32 laps down and back or 64 lengths of the pool for a mile swim.  It was a little discouraging...

I would measure it...don't believe the people who work there, they just, well, work there. Take your yard/meter stick. That's what I did for my pool at Gold's. By the way, one of their top trainers told me the wrong distance. However, he cut it short, so i was doing extra (maybe he was helping me!

I use the pool at Independence and am almost certain it is 25 yards NOT 25 meters

A mile is about 1800 yds, and if the pool is 25 yds. then you divide: 1800/25=72

25 yards ~ 0.0142 miles --  72 lengths of the pool to swim one mile.

25 meters ~ 0.0155 miles --  65 lengths of the pool to swim one mile.

This was also my cocern before, but I applied this method that someone commented here, " A mile is about 1800 yds, and if the pool is 25 yds. then you divide: 1800/25=72". BTW, I noticed it's an old thread, lol. I have lots of time to read old posts just to get an ideas
