Anyone else doing this?  The website lists the swim as 'maybe' wetsuit legal.  Anyone have any experience with the Colorado River this time of year?  800 meters would be on the edge of my comfort zone right now without a wetsuit so I'm hoping it's in the wetsuit zone.

Thanks,
Randy

I am not doing it, but it will be wetsuit legal unless we get crazy hot here in the next month.  Current water temp is 67 and it would have to get to 84 to not be allowed.  Here is a website where you can track the up-to-date water temp.

Have fun with the race.

I may sign up for this as a last minute deal.   It depends on my family obligations and if I can get a couple of buddies of mine to go.   Water temps down here in the Houston area have been in the low 60's.  We'll need a couple of weeks of very warm weather to bring the water temps up;  I doubt the water will get warm enough to not be wetsuit legal.    Muleshoe looks like it will be a good early-season race.

I emailed the race director and she said basically the same thing as above.  If we don't get some crazy hot days, we should be fine with westuits.

Sounds good.  I should be easy to find since I'll be the last out of the water in the 35-39 age group...

LOL.  I'm in the same A.G!  No worries you'll probably catch me on the run Smile.  I'm not much of a runner.  I'm a mountain biker 1st and a decent swimmer but I plod along on the run.

Do you know if we can pick up our race packets on the morning of?  I emailed the director but have yet to get a response.  I live in New Braunfels, so making the trip two days in a row won't be fun.

Thanks and be sure to say Howdy as you speed past me.

Try  e-mailing Mike with racerevolution [email protected]  He's responded to me pretty quickly in the past.  I asked a question about lodging and camping and got a speedy response.   I am sure they will be distributing packets that morning also; but it does not hurt to ask.

I doubt I be doing much passing much less zipping by anyone.  I'm just looking to finish.  I came down with the flu this weekend and I am still feeling HORRIBLE this morning.  I plan on resting as much as I can this week so I feel whole again.  Come what may on race day; as long as I do not have a DNF by my name at the end of it  I'll be happy.

Got a response over the weekend.  Yes, packet pick will be available Sunday morning.  See you there.  Hope you get rested up this week.

Randy- are you planning on a pre-ride or run on Saturday?  Have you riden the course before?   I'm heading out to pick up my packet at Mellow Johnny's Saturday afternoon, then I plan on heading out to the race site to scout out the bike and run loop.  Hopefully there will be some camping areas still available otherwise I'll have to find a place to stay in Marble Falls.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to.  I'm going out of town tomorrow night and back on Saturday afternoon.  I've never ridden the trail, but from what I've heard, it's really nice.

Good luck to you.  I'm 37 and will be on a blue/white Specialized Rockhopper.  If you see me, make sure you say Howdy.  Good luck.  It looks like it's going to be sloppy day with the rain - should be a blast.

That was fun, challenging but fun.  It was my 1st Tri EVER.  I'm definitely hooked!

The run was definitely the crux for me AND it was longer than advertised 4 miles instead of 3.  That sucker was hard.  The off-camber river bank running during the 1st  half mile or so was tough and the loose, rocky,  uphill runs sucked any energy left in the legs right out.  The trail run was definitely not your smooth through the woods jaunt.  The race directors were not kidding when they said it would be unique and difficult.    The bike course is on par to what one would find on a TMBRA race course.

Randy- I tried to look for you bro!  I could not see anyone's body markings once the race was over and during the post race events.  I did not program in your mobile number into my phone so I missed my chance to give you a buzz while at the race; perhaps next time.  Are you doing Austin?  I am.   I wish I could do Waco and Camp Eagle but I've got prior obligations.

Hey Mark, I tried looking for you as well.  You pegged the course perfectly.  I really enjoyed the bike, did better than expected on the swim, and then on the run...well, nevermind.  Overall, I had a ton of fun and can't wait till my next one.  I think I'm going to do Camp Eagle in August and make a weekend camping trip out of it with the family.

Maybe we can connect down the road.  Good luck with Austin.
