I can understand maybe wearing tighty whities underneath but just thinking about wearing boxers underneath makes me cringe.

Not from a cycling 'ettiquete" standpoint, but from a comfort standpoint.

I would say give going commando a shot but at the end of the day, its what youre comfortable wearing that matters.

Or, better yet just like cycling shorts, go commando at the gym.  Well, so long as your shorts don't give peeks of your junk.  I hate VPL under my running shorts/capris/tights.

That being said I wear nothing under my shorts. I also only use chamois creme on rides over 2 hours, and only if I remember. Y'all have soft tushies if you need chamois creme on short rides.

No wearing the bike shorts 2 days in a row...change immediately after your ride and if you don't shower, use a cleaning cloth to help decrease bacterial load in the private area in order to prevent boils and other nasties down there.

But, back to the topic,  I have worn panties under my bike shorts.  Won't do it again..  The elastic in the legs just rubbed me raw.  It is commando on the bike for me!!  WHOOOPIE!!!
