Walden is clean and no one seems to bother you swimming outside the ropes.

Thanks that is 7 miles away... But only open to Sharon residents.  I can bike there.. Any other "work arounds" for private town ponds...

- I'm also 7 miles from Farm Pond; I've biked down there, no problem. I like it... worth the ride.
- There's Hopkinton State Park which is fine before the reservoir nannys arrive in the morning.
- I was going to try Ashland Reservoir but I rode down there last week and there's a nanny sign at the Spring St. access saying no swimmers.

I'd love to know of others!

If you park at the High School and walk to the lake, go to the left of the guarded beach..you can swim no one will hassel you. I have done it a few times

Park at the Warren Center, not the main lot, but the dirt lot near the tennis courts and walk through the woods to the Warren Center beach. You should be able to swim back and forth to the island just off the shore without anyone bothering you. I guess you can go all the way across but I'm sure you'll get noticed more easily.
I've gone back and forth to the island, with others at the beach and no one has said a thing. I've actually walked my bike to the beach too with no issues.

In about a month there is a group of us who will begin swimming in Falmouth at Chappaquoit beach.  Its about a 1.5 to 2 mi swim.  There's a beach exposed to Buzzards bay and a nice salt pond like harbor, we swim around a point sometimes from the harbor to the beach and sometimes the other way around depending on waves and tides.  Everyone regroups at the half way point at the pier entrance to the harbor.  Its a great swim with really nice folks.  I think someone is there tues, th and Sat around 8:00.
I can post more when I get more info.

Just don't go on busy day like 4th of July or busy holiday weekend as they will hassle you and try to get you to go to the other side of the lake which is for non residents and like $5-10 per person to enter.

Going during quiet day you can go. I often will swim there after lifeguards go so just around 6 in the summer.

Other place to swim is at the pond where Cranberry Triathlon is held. Water warms up early in the season as it isn't deep. No motorized boats so it is nice place to swim.

I have swum from the beach in Lowell just up stream from the damn. It is across from Heritage Ice Cream. When we swim their, we just go up stream as far as we want and come back down to the beach. If you do swim there, make sure you are a with a group, stay close to the shore. Current can vary based on water level, so be careful.
