Has anyone received an athlete guide for the 70.3 yet? Seems like it should be out. The rev3 website is down quite a bit, so no luck there...

For all you lucky fella's visiting Knoxville this weekend... here's a quick list of some Leegoocrap's favorite stuff to do within walking distance of the race.

Fine Dining:
- Regas - one of the Nicest restaurant's in the area and over 90 years old!
- Chesapeakes - Seafood... great seafood.  Lobster and Oysters are both amazing here.
- The Butcher Shop - If you want a Steak, this is the only place to go in Knoxville. Cook it yourself if you want to bring out your inner chef.
- Nama - For all the Sushi lovers. A bit pricey but it's good stuff... they were having everything 1/2 off while construction was going on Gay Street... not sure if they still are or not.
- Barley's Taproom and Pizza - Great Pizza, and literally TONS of beer on Draft. Live music every night too.
- Crown and Goose - Newer place, everything I've had there has been good though. It's a bit more of a "laid back" fine dining place.

Shopping:
- Market Square - Just a pretty cool place. Lots of odd shops. Very laid back hipster hangout
- Mast General Store - Get your Candy! This place everyone should go just to check it out...
There are a lot of other places in the old City to blow your money

Drinking:
- Downtown Brewery - They make their own beer! The stout is pretty awesome. Pool tables up stairs and live music
- Hanna's - 80's music Downstairs, Hip Hop upstairs. Huge outside area too. The "cool kids" place to go downtown.
- The Valarium / Cider House - Friday Night is "Temple" (Think Nine Inch Nails) and Saturday Night is "Voodoo" (Think Techno)
- Bar Knoxville - on the actual strip, this is the "College Club" of the area. Lots of Frat Boys and half naked girls under 21. Not my kind of place, but there will ALWAYS be something going on there.
- My House - Obviously the most hoppin place in the area.

Anyways, that's my mini primer on the area.

I have been planning on making a Bacon Explosion as an apres-race snack for the Musselman in July. Hmm....

tech_geezer - 2010-05-01 9:03 AM The bacon lovers of BT coming to Knoxville for the Rev 3 may want to make a pilgrimage to Benton's Smoky Mountain Country Hams.  This is the source of the gourmet bacon in the nation's top restaurants.  I'm looking at you, Marma.   Bacon Mecca is just south of Knoxville between Vonore and Madisonville right on Highway 411.

Benton's has been in the news a good bit during the current bacon fad.  JWKMH happened to be in Madisonville this week and bought some Benton's bacon.  We had scrambled eggs and bacon this morning.   Bacon will never be the same.

it rained some last night, but It's dry as a bone today. Supposed to be about 70 on Sunday cloudy but no rain forecast.

That can always change though.

It is dry as a bone and the river is normal. Temp is 73 as I sit here typing

Well everyone, off to work then off to the race site this afternoon. I'll be there most of tomorrow too! Can't wait to meet some of my fellow BT'ers!

Water Temp will NOT be in the high 60's at 8:00a.m. Sunday... that is crazy talk. It might be 67 outside that early.

Be prepared. I swam outside yesterday afternoon and if the river was in the 60's then, I wouldn't have believed it. And it had been 80 outside all day long.
