Question, how many of you have determined what your optimum gearing is for your rear cassette?

I analyzed my gearing last Wed. after I tracked my pedal rate. I have a Mnt. Bike and I found that I really needed to get a new cassette, one that gave me one tooth increments for the last 5 gears vs. having 2 tooth jump between the gear I used for a good pedal rate and the ones before and after that were useless. Today I ordered my cassette and will have the shop install it and other parts and tune it up before the tri. I'm hoping that as I adapt to the increase in pedal rate I can shift one gear up and get a little bit more speed.

The shop was impressed when I walked in with a spreadsheet of my gear tooths with the effective gear ratio's and if what I wanted was possible! I'm looking forward to the tri practice run this Sat.

I just got a new rear cassette that is tighter. I lost my low gear, but I don't use it much anyway. I always had a problem on the flats finding just the right gear, but now that it is one tooth jumps I can find it everytime. It is still new, but I am loving it already.
