Pre-race routine:

Usual coffee, Oatmeal, PB Toast, Banana. Got to drop-off later than a I wanted. Stood in huge porta-potty line for 5m and barely moved. Pissed behind a building instead.
Event warmup:

Jogged about a mile to the start, got in my corral, pressed play on ipod and race was about to start. No time to stretch.

Comments:

Even though in the 40-50 minute corral, people were jogging/walking and most definately not in the right corral. Tried to get to the front of the corral near the seaded runners but no one would move. WTF people. The first half mile was chaos. Found a "little" room to at least try and pass people after the .5 mark. Found some running lanes around 1.5m mark and started to make my way up the bridge. First 2 splits were OK considering the crowds. Bridge split was slower than I expected but still felt good. Opened up on the downhill as much as my little stumpy legs open up. Easily negative split (almost 30s) the second 5k. Didn't realize I was close to going under 40:00 (I had 41:20 as a goal) until about mile 4 and then I couldn't do the math to figure out what pace I needed to break 40 so I just continued on around 6:30/m and see where it got me. Had a good push to the finish and looked at watch and realized I could have gotten under 40 if I knew what pace I needed because I still had gas left in the tank. Oh Well! Shaved almost 2:00 of 10k PR and came in almost a minute under goal pace.
What would you do differently?:

Figure out best case senerio pace "just in case". Today would have been the "just in case" day as I felt great from start to finish.
Post race
Warm down:

Lack of stetchin lead my calfs to start cramping almost immediately after crossing the finishing line. Hurt like a MF. Got my free food/water, stretched a little, and just hung out until all the freebies were gone and bridge was opened back up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Crowds

Event comments:

No water until mile 4 unless I totally missed the water table before the bridge. Overall: great race, great city, great crowds, great running weather.
