Triple Cities Runners Club

Overcast
Total Time = 1h 15m 53s
Overall Rank = 107/226
Age Group = 20-29
Age Group Rank = 7/15
Pre-race routine:

4.4 mile run at 8am with the Broome County Tri Club. Dark Cherry Mocha (YUM!) at Starbucks after. Did light stretching at home before driving to the race.
Event warmup:

One light lap around the school. Some light stretching and chatting before the race.
Run
  • 1h 15m 53s
  • 15 kms
  • 05m 04s  min/km
Comments:

Just let the feet do the work, kept 'em moving and INHALED going up hill. Felt like I was floating. At the end of the race I was emphasizing deep breaths. This is opposite (and counterintuitive) to my usual style. Typically, I assume I need to get the CO2 out, but breathing in seemed to keep away any burning in my lungs and quads. I was able to grab water on the fly, take a sip and ditch the cup with no problems, too.
What would you do differently?:

If I didn't have Lake Placid in the back of my head, I would have rested more for this race, but considering I have a 26 mile run to do in less than 4 months I wouldn't have done anything different!
Post race
Warm down:

Chatting, a sip of coffee, half a bagel and then met my mom for dinner.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just being tired from 3 1/2 hours on the bike the day before and from the 4 mile run the morning of. But, I felt that that was what I needed to do to train for an IM and it worked nicely!

Event comments:

This is a straight forward race. No glitz. No glam. $7 for TCRC members, $12 day of. I'd rather pay less and get less for a training run/race like this. Overall the perfect day!

Great run - let alone on tired legs.
I'd like to float uphills too so I must try your "inhaling" technique!
