Comments: I was hoping for 11' 30" There were 4 in the lane, and we stayed bunched the whole time. It was a little uncomfortable being so close together. There was some switching back and forth in position at the ends. I didn't maintain a smooth rhythm, and my breathing was a little erratic. What would you do differently?: try to relax a bit more Transition 1
Comments: It was cold!! Included in T1 was a long run (someone said 100 yds) from the pool to the transition area. Bare feet on cold concrete! I couldn't go very fast. I took time to pull on tights, running top, bike jacket, socks, shoes. Actually went pretty well for such a complicated transition. Then clear to the other end to exit. Age Group: 3/5 What would you do differently?: Try to run faster on the concrete? I still would pull on some clothes at that temp and wind. Bike
Comments: I felt slow. It seemed hard to pedal. My brakes weren't dragging, but it sure felt like it. I stopped at one point to check them and to eat a gel. I could tell my blood sugar was dropping. I was hoping for about 13 mph. What would you do differently?: Remember to take some nutrition closer to the start of the race. Transition 2
Comments: Struggled to get the bike back on the rack. I knocked into the bike next to me and had to catch it and put it back. I tried to put my bike in front first but there wasn't space between the next bike and the end of the rack. So I had to pull it out again and then back it in. Just clumsy about the whole thing. Age Group: 2/5 What would you do differently?: Just back the bike in. Run
Comments: Again I felt slow. I tried to push my pace but I just could seem to go. A couple of times I started to feel a stitch, so I walked for about 12 breaths. That seemed to make it go away. I also walked at the aid station, took a couple sips of Heed. I tried to speed up for that last sprint to the finish. When I stopped, I didn't feel that out of breath. As if I should have pushed harder, sooner. However, this is one of my best paces for a non-stand-alone race. So I guess I was pushing a little harder than I thought. What would you do differently?: I meant to eat my gel at the start of the run, but I had eaten it during the bike instead. Post race
Warm down: Just waked around a little. Didn't feel that bad, so I think I could have done more. Overall, I am pretty pleased with my first ever triathlon. Last updated: 2009-10-19 12:00 AM

Ate a bagel with peanutbutter for breakfast about 2 hours before my start. Set up transition. Walked around to get a little familiar with the area. I meant to eat a nutrition bar about an hour before my start time, but I forgot.
