Well I read the athlete's guide last night and the first point under the run rules is that CRAWLING is an acceptable method of forward locomotion for the run WHEW!!  Doesn't that make everyone feel a bit better?  Wink

OK BT'ers....how did we all do yesterday....it was a perfect day for a little s/b/r as the weather gods cooperated and provided some awesome race weather. What a great venue as well...

This was my first HIM....finished in 6:30 and 57/92 in the M45-49

Last September I started running, I picked up a road bike and started swimming with no real endurance background. I somehow though shortly after I started that I could do this Half Iron Man thing. After all its only HALF an Ironman, how hard could it be!!

Well it was hard. The swim and bike were to plan but my run fell apart on me. My knees were already hurting from the hills on the bike and the hils on the run did me in. I am a very poor runner on the best of days BUT I did make it through and finished in a glacial speed of 7:10, and I am happy elated. Crossing that finish line was huge, such an accomplishment.

Congratulations to all those that finished!

Congrats all for the finish!

I did it, it was hard but went according to the plan.

Just came back today from huntsville, so now, time to cut the wristband Cry , unpack and get some rest time.

Race report will wait a bit, need to digest it

Congrats to all finishers!

Whoever it was with the sign cheering on BeginnerTriathlete.com racers with our names, I saw the sign and my name.  Big thanks, the support is always appreciated.

Day didn't go according to plan but a respectable 6:06 none the less!

Let the off season begin!!!!!

Congrats to everyone who raced yesterday!!  It was my first Half and I managed to pull off a time of 5:40!!  My race went better than planned, actually surprised myself a little...I guess all that training paid off!

We couldn't have asked for a better day for it, that's for sure.  I had a great time all weekend and look forward to returning to this venue again!

Oh! I missed that. I really wish I had seen it! I definitely would have stopped to take a picture with it!

My race went well, for the most part. Some things unexpectedly better, some things unexpectedly worse. I will put more info in my race report, but just as a teaser, I had a rather intimate encounter with my saddle because of my cleats, I forgot my watch/GPS in T1, and a gel that I decided to actually carry on the bike at 7:25 came in very handy and saved my ride at about 65k in.

Lots of good, with very few bad moments for me. I finished just over my goal time, with a total race time of 6:08. I am very, very happy with the result for my first HIM, and have already committed to doing it again next year with a fellow BTer! Will we see anyone else there?

Congrats to everyone on finishing what is known to be one of the toughest 70.3 race venues, in no small part to that run from the lake to the TA! Holy moly!

Congrats to all the finishers.  I was the one with the good luck sign.  My hubby took several hundred pics of people leaving T1 and finishing the run.  I found one of you as I was looking thru them tonight.

Hey - that's me on the left!  Thanks Cathy.  I saw your sign after the swim, and then on the run.  I gave a shout out for BT but I don't think you heard me.  Anyway, it was great to see the sign and the support.

At the time of the picture I was feeling great, but the day didn't unfold the way I had hoped it would.  Swim was good, bike I was conservative thinking I was saving it for the run, but the run I fell apart.  I had been aiming for 5:30 and finished in 5:52.  Trying to piece together what went wrong and how I can do things better the next time out.

Legs are definitely feeling it still two days later.

Congrats to all the finishers!!! What a lovely day to s b & r. I'm also happy for all the families and friends that were supporting us and didn't have to suffer the rain like in 2010. On a personal note I finished in 5:42,  3 min slower than last year. I had to stop on the 80k to put the chain back in place after hitting a bump while changing gears. The average time for all the participants was 9 min slower this year compared to 2010. May be the mid day temperature explains it. I hope I can come again next year but my priority will be Mont-Tremblant, my first full IM. Cheers.

Another random bike picture

No run pictures because frankly I look like a buffoon in a size to small one'zie. If you need a laugh though my number was 499.

Well, to be honest, yes and no.

Yes as I did manage to get my fastest speed ever on a bike: 76.8 kph (that was freaking scary when I re-think about it...) when I usually pass around 60/65 kph on the same area.

No as I did not get faster overall on the bike as my last training on the course.

Yes as I think I look good on the pictures on the bike... Embarassed

Was it worth it ?

Just for the last point, YES !

... at least, I'm honest with myself...

Funny!  When I'm going down the hill I can't help but sneek a peek at my speed and I'm LOVING it!! But later - when I'm lying in bed thinking back at it I think of what *could* have happened if I had hit a pothole or something and I freak out LOL.  Live in the moment right??

And don't be bashful - you look like a pro!!! Be proud!
