Is anyone planning on doing the sprint or olympic distance triathlon at Moses Lake on June 12th? I did it two years ago and really enjoyed the experience. I just started back into training after a 6 month battle with cancer (surgery, radiation therapy, chemo, about 40 days in the hospital) and thought this would be a fun low key race to get back into things again.

I'll be there for the Olympic again 3rd year in a row, trying to defend my title!    Triathlynne and I always go over together.  Maybe we can hook up for food or something...it's one of my favorite races.  I didn't know you were battling cancer...hope you are on the mend now and feeling good!  Are you doing the sprint or oly?

My goal is to do the oly but I'll have to see how the coming weeks progress. I am still very sore and have a lot of internal scar tissue.

Triathlon is what saved my life though and I am so grateful. Had I not been in the shape that I was the docs would not have treated me so aggressively and given me a second chance on life. The people here have been(and continue to be) a huge inspiration to me.

Several years ago, Moses Lake was my first race in 25 years and it was pretty powerful emotionally to cross the finish line. I was kind of choked up and this year if I make it that far will be an even more profound moment in my life. Hope to see many of you there.

Hey Popsracer....how are you feeling, how's the training?  I'm excited to meet you in a couple of weeks.  Hope you are up for doing the Oly tri!  Such a great course!

Hi Leslie, things are going really well. I'm not progressing as fast as I'd like but am so very thankful and happy to be able to train again. It still hurts to exercise, sometimes a lot, but its mostly scar tissue and you just have to grin and bear it.

Looks like Moses Lake will be the sprint and I'll just have to use it as a warmup for Lake Padden. Its a great course and a fun race so I'm still really looking forward to it. Good luck in your training and I'm sure you're going to rock the Oly over there.

Is anybody still doing this one?  I can offer a lift if need be....even a place to stay.   Am starting to not want to do the trip on my own, need moral support!    At least it won't be as cold and rainy as it is here, right?

Looks like I am not going to make it. There is a 10k that day just down the street from where I live so I'm opting for that. I really wanted to do the Moses Lake event as it really is fun but its just too far to go this early in the season. Good luck to those that are going.

I'm still racing the Olympic on Saturday...I sure will miss my friends!!!  I had a solid open water swim this morning and did a mini tri on Tuesday with the LUNA Chix, so I feel pretty much ready for the big race, hope to beat last year's time, especially on the bike!

You all missed perfect race weather and mild lake temps!  Of course, I drank half the lake and suffered stomach cramps for the whole bike and run.....but...I still had fun.

First place Athena, 2:40:14 and also top ten women!  Yay!
