Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 24m 8s
Overall Rank = 188/399
Age Group = F 35-39
Age Group Rank = 11/30
Pre-race routine:

Drove from Siletz, OR to Corvallis. (About and hour.) Had to organize transition area in the rain while taking care of baby at the same time. It was cold.
Event warmup:

Nothing.
Swim
  • 10m 37s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

It was quite a climb out of the water! I have a bruise on my shin from swinging my leg over the side.

Super crappy swim. I just could not settle into it. It did not help that the pool bottom did not have the typical cross on the bottom of the lane. I was never sure when the wall was at and ended up one stroke away from the wall until the last couple of laps.
Transition 1
  • 04m 56s
Comments:

Long run from pool to transition area on super cold and wet concrete. I had to take a bit more time to don arm warmers on wet arms, long sleeve shirt, and wind breaker vest. I forgot to put my gloves on. It was really frigging cold!
Bike
  • 39m 24s
  • 12 miles
  • 18.27 mile/hr
Comments:

Very wet pavement. Slippery. Had to be careful on turns. I was unable to be in aero very often due to the wind gusts. I really needed more control than aero was providing. Due to not being in aero position, I was unable to shift properly. I was not in the proper gears. Not a bad ride for the conditions, though.
Transition 2
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

A little slower than I would have liked due to removing the cycling clothes. There was no way I was going to be able to run with those clothes on.
Run
  • 26m 39s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

Not a bad run. I could have gone faster since I felt pretty good at the finish line.
Post race
Warm down:

Wandered around and talked with sarahk, a long-time BT friend who I finally met. She is very sweet. :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The weather conditions.

Event comments:

Great race venue! The volunteers were fantastic. They run this race like a well oiled machine. Highly recommend this race to anyone considering their first triathlon.

Great job, Tracy!  I wish we could have met up!  Your T1 was really great for the conditions.  That concrete was SO cold.
