I am not planning a particular race at the moment, a few duathlon sprints, a few oly duathlons and 1 short sprint 380m swim 18k bike 4.2k run in 2 weeks time. So at the moment I am just cruising along

3 weeks fairly hard training and then this week is easy week, so far I have run twice, biked once and swam once, planning a swim/bike tomorrow and a longish run(15k) for Sunday. So you can see I am not really extending myself this week.. Besides that I have to spend a bit more time with the family. How do you spend your easy week?

My easy week (or cut back week as I call it) is approximately 4 hours less training than my other weeks.  My "other" weeks range from 10 hours total to 18 hours over my 6 month IM plan.  I have a cut back week every 4th week.

My workouts aren't easier, just shorter.  And I usually either drop one workout or get a complete day off during that week.

My plan only has 5 days of complete rest for the 6 months.  I do this by design as my work causes me to miss a day somewhat frequently and I just treat those as my rest days.

hmmm....

Right now, they're all easy, since I'm not really training for anything. If I were, the easy weeks would be right after the goal race, so basically recovery. At that point, it's just whatever I feel like doing, but still getting out there consistently. I don't usually follow the idea of cutback weeks.

I have a race this weekend, so I sorta made this my easy week. I cut back to around 50% of what I normally do. I will probably take two days off after the race depending on how I feel. It's going to kill my monthly totals, but I guess the point is to train to race not the other way around.

I like consistency not cutting back.

If I need to rest I do but not on a planned basis.

I don't purposely cut back on workouts.  That just seems to happen all by itself....

If I feel I need an easier week I'll try to maintain the same frequency of workouts and pretty much the same distances (though maybe a shorter long run or long ride).  Run intensity is mainly what I cut back.

I do tend to have reduced volume weeks, but I stagger the disciplines...I'm pretty much never doing a rest week on all three at the same time.  Other than in IM training, my lightest weeks tend to be 6-8 hours...vs. heaviest up around 11 hours.  I still train at least 8 times a week, regardless of planned volume.

unless i screwed up training or i;m sick/hurt, my schedule is set up so my only easy weeks are either taper or recovery weeks.
