It's 45 at the moment in Nashville, with high temps in the low 80s all week. So -- is this typical April weather and a pretty fair indicator of how it will be on race day?

April is so unpredictable, but I would expect a warm temp on race day. Last year it was cool all during April and on race day it got up in the upper 70s. Wow, was it hot compared to what all of us were training in weatherwise.  Saw several people sitting on the side of the road "dazed and confused" in the last mile or so.

I'm kind of glad it has been warm lately so we are accustomed to the temps.

Yeah I'm kinda glad to get in a few runs in prior to actual race day in this heat.  I'm pumped cant wait to line up and CM1/2M.  5 days after my 70.3 in New Orleans hope my legs bounce back.

You can't predict the temp on April 24th...could be high 40s, or low 60s at the start.   It could be sunny or cloudy.   I would plan on it being warm and not ideal.

This will be my first whole enchildada.... struggled through 23 this weekend and I am hoping just to make the whole 26.2. Hopefully, It will not be as hot as last year. It was in the low eighties before noon in 2009.

understatement haha. i ran the other night, 86 degrees, thought my head was going to explode haha. i'm praying for a cold snap next week. last year i made it 12 miles before i started getting COLD, yes cold, and started cramping. i drank the whole race but still dehydrated and got heat exhaustion. joys of running

The CMM is upon us...to everyone doing the race for the first time...this is one of the hardest marathons you can run!   The good news everyone will be right in the bunker with you.    Temps look to be in the low 60s at the start with some chances for thunderboomers.    It is what it is...be smart this week.   Eat clean, get sleep each day cause you will not the night before.    Good luck!

My husband and I am running the 1/2 and were wondering about the elevation changes.  I mapped the course on BT and it gave 5777 ft of elevation change but Map My Run only had 292 ft of ascent.  Can anyone clue me in to which is more accurate?  We are from Florida and while we have some hills were we train, it is nothing close to 5777 ft.

i want to say the highest elevation is 900ft. and the biggest change of elevation is just after the 2 mile mark all the way up to 3.5, i want to say that's about a 200-250 ft increase. i haven't looked at the elevation in over a month so my memory is foggy.

it's pretty flat, Demonbreun is the longest climb.. others aren't that bad. for the 1/2 that is, haven't done the full yet.

It was about mile 8 I believe when I realized how much better I enjoy sprint tris vs. half marathons.  I was missing the variety in physical activity offered by triathlons.   I'll never do a marathon, and I'll never do an oly, but training for sprints and participating in local races is what keeps me in the best condition I've been in for a long time.  I'm going to Cinnci this weekend for the Flying Pig half, then it's back to cycling with my hubby and swimming once per week just to stay in shape for sprints.

I enjoyed the race last year and this year. But Lord, training for it is sooooo boring!  I hated the "every weekend from mid-Jan or so through end-o-April looking forward to a 5 to 14 mile run."  Yeah, I change my playlists often on my iPod.  I honestly don't know if I'll do it again next year.  I would like to get down to a 1:50:xx.  I ran a 2:06 last year and a 1:59 this year.

This year I had some knee issues and never ran a training run over 10.2 miles.

Good race, lots of volunteers, got out before the weather hit.  Got a cramp in my right calf around 11.3.  Hobbled a bit up James Robertson Pkwy hill and couldn't accelerate down the bridge across the river.  I'm happy with getting under 2 hours.

Like TnTriGirl said, I too like the short, intense distances of sprints.  I think that is where my passion lies for competing.

dunno, i enjoy the 1/2 marathons.. the fulls are a completely different animal, that's for sure.. hence why i'll only do one a year probably (although I did 2 last year).. training for them takes forever, but then again so does a 50-60 mile bike ride while training for a 1/2 IM distance..

At least the weather held off for most of us to finish the 1/2...

And my race strategy worked like a charm:  Start slow then back off!

Well It did not go as planned, wanted to run a 3:30 Marathon, at mile 11 lost touch with the pacer so I backed off. I Have another marathon this month. Got to The turn for shelby bottoms, Mile 20+ and was directed to the finish line. So I got to run a 22.5 mile Marathon.  Whatcha gonna do?   Was a good race none the less.
