Age Group Rank = 8/27
Pre-race routine:

Honey Nut Cheerios about 7am. Picked up packet about 8:30.
Event warmup:

A short jog, somewhere between .25 and .5 mile. Back into school where I did most of my core workout.
Run
  • 1h 29m 54s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 07m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

I made sure I started easy for 1st mile, hit my goal pace of 7:30 right on. Mile 1 does have a hill, fairly flat afterwards. Never looked at my HR but just went of pace. Intentionally stayed a little below 7:30 for 1st half, at half way point (roughly) my avg pace was 7:21. Sped up on 2nd half and ended up with a negative split. I felt pretty good up to last turn around just over mile 9. Last 2.4 miles I was running sub 7:10 and was feeling it. Runners pretty spaced out end. I passed some females (12 min head start) and tried to catch a male but while I was able to gain I could not catch him.

McMillan race calculator had me at a 7:13 based on 3/22 5k time (20:29) so that was part of the reason I decided to make my target goal a little faster. It wasn't too far off.

Good tri club turnout: Mario, Joe M, Mederic, Joe R, Adam, Dave C that I saw. From the results: Trevor, Kameron, Chris Coon, Shaun P, Tom W, Mike F, Margo F, Wendy N. Volunteers: Mauers, Pater M, Bill N
What would you do differently?:

Not much, very happy with the race and my strategy.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung out with some of the tri club participants, partook of post race goodies and drinks.

Short bike ride with Barb Sat afternoon, then Masters/nap. My legs definitely felt beat up on Sat and Sun but feeling pretty good today (Mon).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing

Event comments:

Maybe a little early for this distance for me but I would consider doing it again. Fools 5 was on Sun so it was one or the other but not both on the same weekend.
