Do you guys like to wear your goggles on top of your swim caps, or underneath?  Why?

i haven't been in a race yet, but some reading and videos i have seen suggest "under the cap" is better, in case you get kicked in the face and they get knocked off...they wont' come all the way off your head.  So i have been doing my training swims with them under my cap.

Under the cap for racing; on top all the rest of  the time.

You really can lose your goggles if you get kicked in the face and they aren't underneath. Plus, as you are exiting the water and pulling your cap off, you don't have to worry about your goggles going flying.

I wear goggles on the outside, but I am a anomaly as I carry an extra pair on oly distance and above.

Underneath for racing; no cap for training.

I do this as it helps keep my googles on my head if I take a foot or elbow to the head during the swim.

Really?  I've never heard of this - where do you carry them?

I wear my goggles under my swim cap. I think it would be difficult for them to become dislodged either way you wear them. But, I keep them under so I don't have to worry about it.

Follow on question: swim cap covering your ears or not?

Under for racing, on top of for training (I only wear a swim cap when training in open water though).

I don't like wearing them under as the straps get caught in my hair, I've always worn them over and never had a problem. Another possible solution is to wear 2 caps and have the goggle straps in between...elite level swimmers do it all the time, I just end up looking like an air head though, having to burp my head all the time.
