Pre-race routine:

Ate some cereal and peanut butter toast, grabbed a coffee on the way to the race site. Sipped water along the way.
Event warmup:

Swam a few laps prior to my 2nd heat starting; short jog, some stretching and ate a GU.
Swim
  • 12m 52s
  • 750 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Pool Swim. Six to a lane. Pretty crammed and together the whole race. Not real fluid due to bunching up.
What would you do differently?:

Not real sure I could do anyting differently. Went with it and remained calm and patient.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Transitioned fine. Always forget to push my lap button on my watch prio to entering and leaving transition. Had to wear a jacket and it was a little nippy in the morning. Had a little difficulty getting it on with wet arms, but managed.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 39m 58s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 18.66 mile/hr
Comments:

Total time on bike includes the bike transition. I came in somewhere around 36 min.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Pushed it pretty much the whole way. Moved up a bit on my set an it helped. My rear end is sore.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

In and out as usual. Nothing to add here.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 27m 18s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

As with the bike and swim your time includes the transition. I ran a 25:15 5k according to my watch. High 7 min splits for 1st and 2nd. miles; the last 1.11 was at 10 plus min.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched some. Ate some bananas and drank water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

PR'd

Event comments:

Ceremonies started late. Run was marked well and bike corners were well manned.

Not real accurate data on the swim due to not timing the transitions. Turned out it was 12 mins plus.

Great race Brian!  Very nice job.  Keeping calm during a pool swim is about the best we can do....

Nice run splits in particular.
