Swim
Comments: Happy with the swim. Not doing group workouts anymore since my crew changed venues, so happy that my self-guided workouts have held up. Also liked that swimmers only swam one way in each lane so there was more room to pass. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Definitely the weak leg. I've had years where I focused on the bike and seen good results. This year I've focused on the run, and the bike has suffered. Now if I can only find the time to focus on more than one discipline! Course was a booger too, especially heading up the hills directly into the westerly wind. What would you do differently?: Ride, ride, ride. Transition 2
Run
Comments: First mile was tough. Major cinder blocks. But legs loosened up and stride lengthened. My watch got water in it during the swim so I was SOL on pacing myself on the run. Thought I was between 8-8:30/mile pace, so was thrilled when race results said 7:30. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Happy with swim, run and transitions. 7:30/mile is a PR on the run. Very happy with that especially given that first mile was brutal...kept thinking to myself, "A race is a bad time to have your first brick workout of the year"!! Bike was beyond pathetic. On a short course, I need to be up around 20mph/avg. But this offseason didn't lend itself to much riding for a variety of reasons, so it just goes to show that you gotta log the hours to get a good result. Last updated: 2010-04-25 12:00 AM

Nothing special. Got there just after 5:45 and was surprised how many people were already there since transition didn't open until 5:45. Bunch of eager racers!
None. Wasn't sure how long I'd be standing in line at pool with bib number #113.
