Pre-race routine:

I got up at four and ate my cereal and turkey bacon. I had packed everything the night before so I didn't have to worry about that stuff. I took a shower this year prior to leaving for the race. It seems to wake me up a little bit more and stimulate the nerves.
Event warmup:

I jogged around barefoot for a little bit and stretched my arms.
Swim
  • 14m 35s
  • 1000 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

I thought my swim was very good. I was drafting off of a guy until the turn around. Then he stayed about 10 ft. to my left as we approached the end. About 50 yds. out he shot straight for me and ran me over. I was pissed. I did have a problem getting my wetsuit top off. I fell down at the beach because I lost my balance.
What would you do differently?:

Just practice taking my wetsuit top off.
Transition 1
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

I felt a little dizzy in the transition area so it took me a couple of extra seconds to get my helmet on.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
