jsklarz - 2010-07-07 8:42 PM Bob - I always thought you were a mudder... nothing like a muck run before a bike.  Seriously, the Mossman guys run a good race and will have everything timed perfectly.  I'm sorry to miss it and Rudypalooza.  However, i'm out on Martha's Vineyard for 2 weeks so its not that bad.

My father was a mudder ;0 - feelin' your pain man - horrible to be banished to the MV. Thanks for rubbin' it in our faces (BASTARD!)

Hope your having a great time

When I come there on any other Sunday, I have to pay $20 for parking, is the beach charging for parking? Will they allow us to park in the beach parking lot?

Calf Pasture is only $5 i think, but as a racer it should be free, i do not think they will even have a guard at the gate at 5am, spectators that come a little later might have to pay

edit....  They Charge you $20 for parking???  when did they start doing that, i thought it was 5 bucks??

Tell the girl at the gate you are picking up your race packet only on Saturday, they should let you in for free if there is even a person at the gate that late. If not, park up the street at the school and walk down, $20 bucks is ridiculous for that beach

I got the email too. I just mapped the loop out

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=136609

Looks like there are a couple of quick turns in the beginning of the loop.
What are the other probs Rudy?
Does the bike loop run through more of the Run course now?

I think they charge me $20 because I am out of state.

extra hills, and it makes the course much more technical, it adds a bunch of extra turns.

Basically i am not happy with it because the original set up was designed as a fast, basically flat 12.3 mile course with not a lot of change of direction, to a course now with more climbing (not big climbs, just uphill) and many more turns (over a dozen or more) over two laps which negates all the straight line power a big guy like me can put down. It is a personal issue, not necessarily a road condition or route issue.

Keep in mind, my team found out about the road construction this morning while traveling to the race site to do a pre-race inspection, the individuals that run the town highway dept NEVER told the RD about the impending and just started road work that caused the change in route. They were completely surprised and had to make the immediate changes that i am sure they were not happy to make 2 days before the race. It is hard enough to coordinate 650+ athletes without having a wrench like that thrown in at the eleventh hour.

Clay and the guys run first class race and work very hard to put on a beginner friendly race, I feel bad for them.  Nice BTW, same thing happended at Griskus, the town chip sealed a road and there was a last minute course change - dead up a hil that reminded me of a double black diamond, except goign the wrong way .  Nothing like a standing climb for about half a mile, I though I was going to pass out.
