Subject: When to clean and lube chain?
Racing this weekend and the site is about a 2 hour drive from where I live. If I clean and lube my chain before I leave, will the wind from the travel dry anything out? Should I just wait until I get there? I'd rather not do that as it's just one more thing I'd have to do. Race is a Sprint.

Throw some lube on it before you leave the house. It'll be fine through the race and the drives to/from.

The day before, right before your 10-20 minute bike ride, clean and lube the chain. Then you'll have worked the lube into the chain links prior to the race.

Then leave it the heck alone. You can over think it and screw up your bike if you start getting too involved in maintenance stuff right before a race.

Adding air to the tires is about all you should be doing to your bike the day of the race.

The lube goes on wet to transport the lubricants into and inbetween the moving parts... once that happens, then you want it to dry. Fresh, wet lube will only attract more dirt. So do as Daniel suggests.
