Subject: Running stores in Long Island?
I found quite a few suggestions from the LI Running website, but the websites are vague. I'm looking for one that lets you test shoes out and return them if you don't like them and they haven't been worn outdoors (I know there are a few out there).

Runner's Edge in Farmindale is very good.

I like Superrunners in Huntington (on New York Avenue).  They have a great return policy that I've never had to use.  They will take a fair amount of time fitting you if necessary too.

Try Sayville Running Company.  You can't beat the prices & service.

Not sure which will let you return after running in them even indoors. Call and ask.
As mentioned good ones are:
Runner's Edge - Farmingdale
Super Runner's Shop - Huntington
Sayville Runner's Shop - Sayville
Lynbrook Runner's Shop - Lynbrook

There are others further out east, if I am not mistaken (2nd Wind?).

Another vote for Runner's Edge, but there's a shop in Northport I was just on my way out to check out for trail kicks.
I'll let you know when I get back.

Cow Harbor Running, I believe it's called.
Very nice woman that owns it/works there.  Big supplier of Pearl Izumi shoes/clothing.  I ended up not purchasing anything though, so I'm not sure on their return policy.
And they're dog friendly!  You can bring them right in.

Im not sure of Cow Harbor's return policy but they are very nice and seem to know their stuff (Husband and Wife run the shop). They also have the best prices going, particularly on Newtons. They are also getting tri gear in soon (wetsuits etc.).

Thanks for all the input! I ended up at Super Runner's Shop in Huntington, and I was really happy with them. I love Quantum Feet, but it's a bit of a drive. I've heard great things about Runner's Edge, but their hours are so limited! I can never get there when they're open. Maybe I'll try them again when I get my next pair :-)
