Event warmup:

Did a half mile EZ jog and some stretching. Stood in our corral for 30 minutes until the race began.

Comments:

Hot and muggy 10 miler. Went out too fast first 5K, settled down and managed just under 8 min mile pace. Happy with that. Did not run at all this past week recovering from Lonestar 70.3 and sore/tight hamstrings.
What would you do differently?:

If this race was had more importance to me, I would not have scheduled a half iron the week before. This was going to be a fun race with family, but after the first few miles, I was doing well enough to set a goal of under 8 min pace. If I trained for this race specifically, I think I could have managed a 7:30 pace or better.

Event comments:

Total madness afterwards trying to find my wife, her sister, and the rest of the family that either competed or supported. Took longer to find them than to run the race!

Overall, a fun experience. Will do it again.
