What would you do differently?:

I started off fairly well and found my legs after just a few km and was running at about 5:30 mins/km until about 8km where my foot blistered up.
The bloody thing is the size of a 50c piece! It popped it wore away at my newly exposed skin, I can't describe the pain but it hurt! I forgot to replace my old shoes with the ones I have been training in all season.

STUPID MISTAKE!

I reckon I would have cracked that 2hrs for sure if it wasn't for that.
Post race
Warm down:

Straight back into that water (Which was really cold!)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Blisters on my feet, particularly my left one, it's huge!

Event comments:

2008 Time: 5:48.13
2009 Time: 5:37.08

Goal Time: 5:10.00

Never mind, there is always next year. Lots of running planned for winter, my wife wants to buy a treadmill, I think I will also get good use of it.

Well done mate. Everyone was saying it was a longer and tougher course this year with the winds. Well done for putting up the pain and continuing with the run. Gutsy stuff! Next year will be your year

Nice effort. You set yourself some tough goals. It sounded like a hard day out there. Hope that blister recovers swiftly.
