Ovetta (known as "infosteward" here on BT) is part of the crew for Team Endorphins in the Race Across America.  After trailing the first 2000 miles, they've overcome difficulties and logistical problems and took the lead shortly before crossing the Mississippi River yesterday.  They must have been really rocking overnight, because they now increased their lead to nearly 4 hours.  They are somewhere in Indianna now.

Ovetta is posting updates on:

I know Ovetta has a lot of friends here at BT.  She's contributed a lot of articles and her optimism is contagious.  Crewing RAAM is very difficult.  Perhaps we should take some time to throw some words of support back to her and her team in the "comments" section of the blog as they work their way to the East Coast.

I've been following this via the blog and the RAAM site. What an incredible thing to attempt.

Ya gotta love these triathlon people:

(training for RAAM)

4-16-05 Shanna competes in Amarillo Town Club sprint triathlon and wins overall. She then rides home in a 20 mph headwind - 130 miles.

They still have about a 4 hour lead.  They're through Indiana and Ohio and will be going through West Virginia tonight.  Should be closing in on the finish some time late tomorrow???

Team Endorphins just finished, winning the two person mixed category by a narrow margin of just a few hours.

Congrats to a gutsy come from behind victory.

Almost all the teams have finished.  There are still a half dozen solo riders out there who have about a day left to officially finish.

Check out Shanna Armstrong's post-race interview. The second audio post on June 30.... I think that's what makes those crazy ultra-endurance people do what they do...
