Subject: RE: IM training plan help grbelja - 2010-05-05 11:25 AM Hi All, I'm scheduled to race at Ironman Western Australia on the 5th December 2010. On Saturday I completed my first Half Ironman in a time of 4:57 (with an average run leg due to cramps - possibly because I went too hard on the bike).
Should I be looking at a 20 week programme or a 12-15 week programme. And which would you all recommend, BT, Endurance Nation, Ironguides?). Swimming is my limiter so I will be focusing on that and running. I was planning to use a Bobby McGee Ironman Run programme in conjunction with whichever I choose.
Im new to IM distance and I am aiming to go Sub 12 but i will push for Sub 11.
Thanks,
Jeff There's no way to tell from what you've said. All of them could meet your goals. I would look for a plan that fits your schedule and builds from a level that you are already comfortable with training. I would be careful about "merging" different parts of different plans. Then you are not following any of them. You are making one up. Length of plan is fairly irrelevant. My "IM plan" last year was about 8-10 weeks. Congrats on your first HIM! Nice overall time. |
