Swim
Comments: Went out a little too hard, but was able to hold it. It was nice to do have a triathlon where I didn't think I was going to drown during the swim. What would you do differently?: I got tangled up in the lane lines a few times, so I might practice that if I were going to do another pool snake swim. Transition 1
Comments: I had a technical issue with one of the buckles on my shoes that I think cost me some time. What would you do differently?: I should have noticed I wasn't breathing well and used my inhaler. Bike
Comments: I had some breathing trouble, probably from working too hard on the swim. What would you do differently?: I would have left my inhaler out in case I needed it. Transition 2
Run
Comments: It was humid all morning and by the time I got out on the run it was also hot (I saw a 71 on a bank sign), so I had my usual problem with overheating on the run portion. What would you do differently?: Not sure, dump more water on myself maybe? Post race
Warm down: Drank some water and walked around. Then positioned myself to watch Peter finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Due to a health issue in the beginning of April I was under-trained for the event, so overall I should be happy with how it went. Had my usual pre-race breakfast of two packages of raisin and spice oatmeal and a cup of coffee. Got my transition setup and helped Peter set up his. Got in a final bathroom break and took a gel about 15 minutes before the start.
No real warm up. Thanks to nerves my heart rate was already through the roof before I even got in the pool.
