Pre-race routine:

Set up Transition paced tried to figure out where to go after T1 and T2.
Event warmup:

Light jogging and stretching. Didn't get much of a chance to swim before the start.
Swim
  • 09m 28s
  • 500 meters
  • 01m 53s / 100 meters
Comments:

I was in the middle front, where I normally don't go. I got caught a little by surprise by the start and that led to me being assaulted by the other swimmers. Took me forever to get a lane. I had to keep moving outside. It probably cost me 30 sec to a min. After that I was a little discouraged and I think it slowed me down a little.
What would you do differently?:

Start in the outside front like I normally do.

Transition 1
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

I had not practice transitions this year. I was really worried about my flying mount. It turned out to be one of my better ones. THe rubber band on my left shoe held a little too well, but I was mounted and my feet went right into my shoes. Pedaled for a bit to get some speed and then cinched the shoes up. My left one was still pretty loose though. I needed this after a poor swim.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. This went pretty well.
Bike
  • 32m 2s
  • 11 miles
  • 20.60 mile/hr
Comments:

The wind was very irritating. I really hate riding in the wind. It wasn't that bad, but I still hate wind.
I though I was doing pretty well until I saw the results. I am at a loss on what to do next. I thought I was pushing fairly well. The bike is so important to these things. It's kinda irritating to beat the 2nd place (AG) in the swim and run, but still place 6th in my AG.
What would you do differently?:

Next year I'm getting a new bike when I get back. Focus more on riding.
Transition 2
  • 00m 29s
Comments:

This is the best T2 I have ever had.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 21m 54s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 06m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

I decided to start out of T2 at a faster pace whether my legs liked it our not. I just focused on stride, form, and turnover. After I settled down I tried to maintain the current pace and then pick it up on the way back. I was surprised at how decent my time was. I would love to get it under 20min though.
What would you do differently?:

Pretty happy with this one for me.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking around, light jogging, and stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

More dedicated training.

Event comments:

They had a few issues at the start and with the bike course apparently. I really didn't notice any bike course issues. For the event overall, I was pretty satisfied with the race.

good race.

I also started the swim on the inside...and paid the price.  It seemed like everyone from the outside was trying to swim across me to get inside position.

And the winds were irritating...lol.  Nice run though.

Did you get your times/rankings off the posted results or is it already online somewhere.

Pacific sports had posted it online really quickly. They are usually pretty fast with the results.
