Reading all of this pick up drop off go here and there 3 bags, bring a pump but you can't bring a pump so you should borrow a pump stuff is sort of leaving me feeling like I'm not paying enough attention to all the little details going on with this race......

It's kinda confusing the first time...they've got a "clean" transition which means that anything you have w/ you in T1 must fit inside your swim to bike bag. No pumps allowed to be kept in transition after you swim. There are plenty of folks w/ pumps who hand them off to family members plus the bike mechanics have a pump or two or three. After your swim, wetsuit, goggles, etc. must get placed back inside your bag and volunteers sweep thru T1, toss your stuff into a truck and drive it up to Providence for you to retrieve at th finish. There will also be a seperate truck at the beach for anything you'd like to have while waiting to start. Flips, sweatshirt, visor, etc.. all gets placed in bag, tossed in truck and whisked away to Providence.

Not sure about cranks and stuff but the bike course has some rollers in the middle and a steep but short climb right around mile 46. You make a right and go up, up, up. The streets towards the end were kind of crappy - potholes and I seem to remember multiple RR trax.

Swim last year was unusually choppy - big ol storm blew in during the night. Some athletes opted for a du and were able to complete only the bike and run portion...When you leave your T2 bags in T2 Sat. make sure your sneaks are in bags within your bag. I didn't do that but tucked my bag shut. Didn't work so well, my sneakers were in puddles when I came riding in on race day.

So about the pumps thing.  I really want to bring my own pump since I trust it and can't risk not getting the tires pumped up before the race, but I won't have anyone there to hand it off to. Would anybody have family or friends that would be interested in taking it for me and either meeting me later that day (im staying at the hilton) or shipping it to me?  Id be willing to pay 20 bucks or so (really anything less than buying a new pump is worth it to me).  Or if anyone is interested in buying an awesome joe blow pro pump (http://www.performancebike.com/bikes//Product_10052_10551_1030978_-1___) that could pick it up the morning of the race, let me know.  I know its a little short notice but I didnt' realize the bring pumps but u can't bring pumps thing until the guide was just released.  Hopefully someone can help...if not I'll be buying a new pump when I get back and throwing this one away which I would hate to do.  Thanks.

I was there Wed and Saturday in the last week and I would agree is is 64-66. The person who puts on the ows is the swim director for RI70.3 and said it was 65 last Wed. It feels chilly to me especially my face when I get in but after a short time it feels comfortable much more so than local ponds and lakes that I get warm in as I swim.

AGREED! I learned in my last HIM that I run better/faster in cold and wet conditions. Sorry to jinx everyone and become the black sheep, but I am praying for rain on Sunday.....this heat has got to cut by Sunday! Hit 103 here today....can't imagine its much cooler up in RI.

That's all I'm hoping for too - some rain to break the heat spell. It has been HOT, and running in those conditions is not ideal at all. Here's hoping!!

Does it say who got slots online? I didn't stuck around, just curious how far it went down for 25-29 men.

I'm not sure if that info is available online... but I'm pretty sure I remember them saying that the 25-29 men slot got picked up pretty quickly. I don't think it rolled down much, if it did at all!

I also think some people may have passed on it because of the oil spill.  I think some people are averse to committing amidst the uncertain swim conditions.
